Hello!
Does anyone know if its ok to use the webcam 86c with scat lifters, or do i have to use the lifters that webcam provides ? |

I'm not sure it's ok to use Scat lifters with ANY cam. OTOH, I have a Web 119 on Webcam (Scat regrinds) that seem to be holding up well so far in my bus, 27K miles. |

Laurie once told me that they are Scats but the crown is redone. |

Odd how I was told they are virgin scats repackaged from Webcams. For the cost of the webcam lifters I doubt very much they resurface them.
I'd use CB lightweights witha webcam. Who cares if webcam has a warranty with their "scat" lifters. They do not pay for engine disassembly. CB lightweights you will NOT have a pitted lifter issue. No need to resurface a CB lightweight |

I don't have a problem at (correction) 27K miles, but then I haven't pulled the engine apart either. Valve adjustments have shown no real trend toward wear.. just a thousandth or so loose or tight at each checkpoint.
Yeah, sometimes I wonder about Laurie.. lol
I'm not a proponent of Splats, but I'm not aware of a barrage of lifter failures using Webcam's lifters and their cams. All lifters can get damage - even the ceramics. I have proof, and they weren't dropped. |

I 'm very particular about lifters now since I've been bitten many times.
I've posted this picture before but this is a scat lifter with aprox 3500miles on them with NO valve float. Those were resurfaced by the way.
I've used cheap ghetto Riosolence brazilian lifters for more miles and those lifters look perfect. The lifters were dished and no good for longer use with my chevy valvetrain.
All the perfume in the world will not mask a shi!!y foundation of the splat lifter. Resurfacing those lifters are a bandaid for bad material.
Webcams tells me I'm using too stiff springs. I guess i should use vw single springs with a 46mm valve LOL!!!! |

Thanks
think i will go with the CB Lightweight. been reading about people having some bad experience with scat and the 86c , but also alot of people seems to be using them. Guess both will work if its done right
maybe some lifter bore inserts would help... |

Ive run Webber 78, 91, 183 cams, Engle 110, 120, 130, VZ 14 , VZ25, FK89, 4062, Scat C 35, Bugpack 4062, and DDS camshafts all with Eaton brazilian lifters. The FK 89 engine even ran triple valve springs. There has never been any lifter failure. All were camshaft were coated with moly grease. All ran 40 weight diesel oil except the FK 89 engine which runs Kendal 50 weight racing oil. Over the years we built over 1000 engines with no lifter warranty issues. |
