Used Rustoleums Universal All Surface Spray Paint, Satin White.

Been wanting to do the same and have gone back and forth with what paint is best, spray made for vinyl, or an all purpose. Can you upload some pics of the results? . Hopefully these iPhone pictures give you an idea.
I’m just glad to see the stains hidden, and one clean color on all the White Vinyl.
I removed the Ceiling Vents and painted them weeks before I painted the headliner. This way, if the paint stuck well to those fragile vents, then maybe the Headliner was going to work out.
I then tried a small 12x12” section on the ceiling/headliner.
Let that go a few weeks as well. Then did it all on Monday

Thanks for the pictures. It looks good, I think I'll give it a shot with a matte grey.

Quite possibly made a time bomb under my drivers seat..

So... I'd been experiencing a little water-in-fuel-tank after a car wash, and then on the freeway in hard rain. So, figured I had done something wrong on the re-seal last year. Got a snake cam and was disappointed with the LED light at the tip, and decided to use a 3 AAA cell battery LED light. I had done something interesting on my way home today, which was intended to demonstrate where a leak might be: fill the tank full. BUT, not just plain old full... up the filler neck too. And then, you might get a notion where this is headed, the flashlight fell down into the mess and I can't reach it.

Well, I found the problem in the re-seal. I've somehow gotten one of the T tips that are supposed to pop down into the grommet/seal twisted slightly, and that has pulled up the seal slightly, and also the T tip pulled up a little too.

So, the gas was leaking out the top of the tank at that seal, and the battery powered LED flashlight is sitting there slowly draining its cells.

I decided it was a good way to go; drive a bunch of miles to get the fuel level in the tank down to the point it won't leak out the bad area. So, I went on a 40 mile loop.

I figured there was at least s slight possibility of the following things to happen: the flashlight would bounce around and fall out, I'd successfully get enough fuel used up to have the leak not happen, or, I'd go up in flames.

Well, I'm home, in one piece, no drama of any sort, yet. However, I would usually have put Flossy in the garage by now, and I did not. Its away from any structure that it could take out in a fire. I did look again, the flashlight was still exactly where it fell prior to the loop. And the light is still on.

As they say in show biz: Flame On !!!

50A switches, okay for aux batt with a 30A fuse, not good for a starting battery...

Replaced Seam Sealer on all my remaining exterior seams. Sanded and repaired my R/R panel, primed and painted it.
Worked a dent out as best I could that was above and behind the side marker light. It was nice to see that dent gone finally.
The sliding door is still a different shade of brown than the rest of the Assuan Brown ( previous work from the past), but that can wait since the Drivers Side of the body needs work much like the Passenger Rear quarter did. Winter is Coming..... :P

Put a "wrap" or large decal on the hightop of the Adventurewagen.

Damn, that's gorgeous - well done!!

that wrap on the high top looks awesome.

today i fixed a self-inflicted stripped exhaust stud hole. i had really chewed up the threads and after a few attempts to bottom cut the threads, it was time for a real (well, better) fix. i installed a helicoil and honestly, the hardest part was deciding if i should remove the driveshaft from the transmission to get access for a drill. i decided the hole probably chewed up enough and the tap was a reamer/tap, so a drill wasn't needed.

it was a pretty straight forward process of dropping the header, reaming and tapping the hole, setting the helicoil, cleaning the hole, and then driving the stud in and putting the header back on. no more terrible exhaust leak!

next up, master cylinder.

I found a 2nd windshield washer pump and ran it inline with the first. It's an improvement, but I plan to try running one to each side to see if that is even better.

?.... The stock spray didn’t work for you in terms of flow or pressure?
Just curious.... :?

That hightop wrap looks amazing!

Light work while planning my transmission work later next week ( no upshift into 3rd)
Finally adjusted my Drivers Washer Jet, stupid that I let it shoot high on the glass for so many months, but there you have it.
Added blue Loc-Tite , just a drop, to the wiper spindle nuts to prevent them from loosening . I already have the 7mm washers under the nuts.
Lubed the front door hinges and locks in Fall preparation since Winter is Coming....Will lube all rubber door seals soon as well to help shed water and snow later this month .
Added a touch more Rust Converter to some out of the way areas I had previously missed.
I think I’ll spray Internal Frame Spray up into the A Pillars to help keep them in one piece, then follow with Wax spray.

Trans works other than 3rd gear. So at least it’s moveable for Street Cleaning Days even if Highway Driving is a no go at the moment.
Slowly gathering parts and knowledge. Thanks again to kourt and AtlasShrugged for their support with the trans.
I guess thanks to Porsche for still stocking stuff in Germany as well... :P :P
I felt underdressed just going to the Parts Counter to pick up my seals...

Finally got around to installing the new radiator fan I've had for months. Not a job I was looking forward to. The old fan was extremely noisy, presumably bearings were shot. This thread convinced me to do it without draining the coolant.

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...mp;start=0

I'd replaced the radiator and AC condenser a while ago and mounted them separately . . . seemed like a good idea at the time. That created one complication. Then my bumper mounted lights blocked the screws that hold the lower grille on . . . another frustrating complication. Sequence of operations is key, and I screwed up a couple times when trying to reassemble in the wrong order. Still only about a 4 hr job, and one less thing to worry about.

Replaced the fuel lines, added Marco injectors and Van Café fuel rails on my Syncro

4Gears4Tires Tue Sep 24, 2019 8:10 pm

Hooked up coolant lines and filled with distilled water. My plan is to drive it for a few weeks, then drain and fill with blue coolant. Coolant temp sensor doesn't seem to move on the dash, but the red coolant light does blink on for a second when starting. Need to tidy the wiring. Seems like an exhaust leak at one cylinder. However, 10 months after dropping the old engine out and the trans and then the gas tank and then sheet metal, I drove it back and forth in the garage today! Maybe I'll even put the sliding door back on this week.
