Regarding the 55 SWF relay, not only does it not have the "6 Volt 2X20 Watt" stamped on the back of the mounting bracket, but it also does not have the "Typ:" and "BGB/51" script on the front of the bakelite below the "Made in Germany" script.

Does anyone knnow what these might go to? Ghia? The mounting bracket is originally straight - not bent.

Both are 55's.

I don't know Kurt, but I have one with the red paint too. Never figured out what it was used in.

No clue on that one, and I think I have one of those too. Puzzling because the missing terminal is the ground, and you can't get ground via the bracket because of the big grommet.

The ground, BTW is only needed for the speedometer bulb in the speedo pod as the indicator bulb in it is switched on the ground side, and tied to hot (all the bulbs there are actually, oil and gen lights too). So this flasher could be used in some other car which did not have the same type of flasher indicator setup in the speedo. One whose bulb was tied to ground and switched on the hot side (like the turn signal bulbs outside the car) would not need a ground connection on the flasher.

Ever seen the SHO bakelite flasher? I have one but it is packed away at the moment....

The SHO I have is VERY similar in appearance to that. I'll post a pic of it when I unpack it. I am renovating my office an all my "museum" vintage parts are packed away right now...

They are not Ghia. Ghias used the same ones as Beetles.

Here is what I believe to be an NOS bus flasher. date code CG (3/55). straight bracket. It has a sticker on top, which reads:
type:
BGB
6 Volt 3 X 15 Watt

I wonder if the sticker was present on all of the earlier style units?
also a difference is on the wattage.

Does anyone happen to know what date codes were used on SWF parts (wiper motors) after 1968. I have wiper motors with date codes of 2F 54 and was wondering what year it was made. I know it was made in the '70's or '80's.

october 52, from the conversion to 160 it seems it has been remanufactured later with parts from a 36hp generator?

Trying to understand how to make sense of the date codes on the buckets and the markings on the glass or lack of. I didn't include a photo of the top of the glass lenses, but they do have the VW logo.
I'm also wondering if I have the correctly matched chrome light bezels?

11N = Nov 1957
10M = Oct 1956

Date codes (if any) for Bosch lenses are cast into the lip at 12 o'clock, under the rubber gasket, and consist of a Roman numeral (for quarter) and letter (for year).

On page 1 there is a set of pics and the question on the Z date code on a D shaped voltage regulator. The Z denotes 1944 a nice'n oldie The pre war date coding for Bosch started in 1920 at A. The post war date coding coincidently started at 1945 with A again.

I just found this strange D shaped regulator with a flat top.

It has an unusual writing that ends with 1Z

Is that the date code? So january 1944?
But what is between the scew holes? That looks like an N?

Inside there is an extra condensator?

From below a spiral (resistor?) that is also new to me.

Is that a typical KdF aera part?

It's a wartime 90W regulator with the interference protection. 1Z on that place doens't mean date code. Could be from a stationary engine when has 90W. "N" could be the correct date code, maybe it's "Z"?
