I'm pretty sure heading home from West River Westies in VT over the weekend (over 100 vans in attendance).
I was on the same route that day as well heading home. |

My daughters training is coming along nicely, she saw the van in the parking lot of our local community college (Cuesta College) so she snapped a pic and sent it to me. This van was spotted yesterday (8/13/25) here at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Too funny. I have a white little duck on my windshield wiper and a green little frog on the other windshield wiper.
Mine have tiny magnets to keep um in place even when driving. |

| Last night in PA on I-81 headed south around Hazleton around 9PM. We were in the van headed home from VT and I had just remarked we had net seen another van the entire trip when a silver Westy towing a small camping trailer camp past and gave a friendly beep before disappearing up the road. I was cruising around my normal 3.8K so 67MPH or so, and it went past at at least 75. Am curious what is under the engine lid. |

Not on the road, exactly, but I thought it might fit.

She got a T3 and three engine donors in one shot!

Plus an alternate mode of transportation while the van is out of commission for the swap. |

Pulling out of Trader Joe's in Claremont, CA. Cindy sez, "There's a Westy". Turns out, it's a pretty-much very clean copy of the Van I'm drivin'. Mine's an '88. This one's an '89. Body's straight, no visible rust. Same wheels. I park next to it to take a pic. The owner, Lesley, a lady about my age, walks up, we talk. We both live in the same town and, apparently, there's a guy, Mark, with another Dove Blue Westy. Small world.
Have fun, be safe. |

With the closure of a couple of independent VW places in town, this shop has become one of the defaults for Vanagon repair.

This was back in early July. Sugarloaf State Park, Sonoma California.
I actually blame this one for making me buy mine recently. I met up with an old coworker for drinks. He mentions off hand he's got to sell his recently deceased grandmother's old camper. Shows me some photos and I'm vaguely interested but not really. Then I see this thing like five days later and it's super clean. Lit the fire under me, took awhile to get the dmv title sorted and here I am now, attempting to smog it next week.
Also that same camping trip had two cool buses 8)
I apologize for the hastily taken photos.
(Didn't realize until after making this post that the bus pop top is reversed from the Vanagon) |

Actually, depending on year, the Baywindow Westies came with poptops facing either direction. Early model Bays opened at back and starting in 1974 (IIRC) the top was changed to the style that opened at front like the Vanagon, going from a one person folding cot to the two person bed. |

| No photo, but I am in Marquette, MI this weekend and ended up behind a red Syncro tin top in my silver Syncro tin top so that was cool. Was it anyone on here? It was a nice looking Syncro |
