I had mine limo tinted. This is good, saves your cabinet laminate, curtains, etc. from UV degredation. Also look's 8) |

What year bus?
76-79 Westies have the curtain behind the cabinet. It is held in place with a screw. |

We used a window tinting sheet that looks like stained glass bamboo, it took some creative splicing to make it work but it was worth it. |

I have a 73 Westy and am working on covering that window with stickers from my travels, from friends, one's that I like, etc...unless you are going for a more "classy" look :D |

I'm having the same problem. I've been thinking of just using some nice fabric tacked into place. Granted it will probably fade but in the long run I'd like to use some leftover seat material

We used same fabric as our curtain material. We know it will fade but wanted to match.

I did the same thing Steve did. Our curtains are even similar material. Great minds and all that...)

I did the same thing that pjalau and Bonanza Steve did.
My curtains are made of Sunbrella, so no fading is allowed. |

Sunbrella "seconds" cost about $10/yard. I used Pacific Blue, like used on all boats. http://fabricwarehouse.com/outdoor_fabrics/sunbrella.htm
Here is some Sunbrella available that looks darn close to the original curtain fabric: http://www.outdoorfabrics.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=652&cid=12

So this topic inspirited me to try this out.
Asked Mom for some fabric ideas and she came up with 4 yards of solid denim!!! Never know whats in Moms fabric box!!!! I ended up using only about 1/2 the denim and using upholstery tacks to hold to it the cabinets. I really like the end result!! |

How do you remove this faded out piece of curtain? Must you remove the entire cabinet ? Going with a desert storm tan on the body so was even thinking of just painting over the side window too. Thanks[/img] |

Yep, closet comes out, or at least away from the wall. It's slipped over 2 strips of plywood and screwed to the metal around the window, 6 screws total. |

I just loosened the closet a bit and it gave me enough of a gap to slide out the board, replaced the rotting material with the new and slid it back in.
Took longer to put the new material on than to reinstall it. |

Resurrecting and ancient thread to ask a question...
I'm working on replacing the curtains in my 1970 camper. If I understand what's been said above, if I take the headbanger cabinet out, I should then be able to pull the closet away from the wall enough to get the curtain in/out? I need to replace that curtain and I've been procrastinating because I thought I had to take EVERYTHING out... |
