I am using CB performances fiber gaskets and its dripping dangerously, Both are leaking and i've used two sets of seals. Those fiber gaskets are not working. I torqued them down to where I thought I'd strip the fitting. Would washers work? I figured the threads are probably softer then washers. Anyone have a solution?
Any help??
Thanks

Check local industrial/hydraulic supplier for a Nylon (synthetic) flat gasket...
Or look for what is called a self sealing washer ...

Also check JEGS or SUMMIT or EARLS, they have AN style banjo fittings for Metric carbs (weber-dels), they probably have washers also....

The banjo may be warped. Try flat sanding them, if that does not work replace them. |

I like to use loctite 565 on them. It works well. Just a tiny bit.. enough to barely coat the fiber washer. Wipe any excess off and it will seal up nicely as long as your banjo is not screwed up. |

Weird thing was, originally it only had a seal at one side of the banjo. With that I know its at least mostly flat. It seeped, but generally held pressure. I called CB and they said the fiber works. Ha, I'd love for them to show me.
Today I bought nylon rings from flaps, so we will see tonight.
Thanks for the help everyone! |

There two gaskets one in one out.
I would not use nylon, bad idea! When and not if it splits you will go up in smoke and fire real quick. I have also used soft aluminum and copper gaskets with really good success so maybe that will do it. Replace the banjo's if all else fails. |

Early unions use one gasket. The late ones use two. The early ones have a bolt with a 11mm head, the late has 16mm head. |

And that bolt uses a copper washer for a gasket at the union on the early ones. Both styles two gaskets. |

Make sure the mating surfaces are smooth. I have found that tightining the bolt while the gaskets are wet, works for me everytime.

JB WELD EVERYTHING! [reality] Just kidding for those poor suckers that might really try it [/reality]
The loctite 565 is very good. It cleans off easily and seals well. Stinks though. |
