I've disassembled, cleaned, and lubed up the dizzy twice so far. Plus another time or two of just spraying it well with PB-blaster. |

Marc, I have to order it. Its a A1 Cardone rebuild so it will have a nice bushing installed inside for the shaft. It will be cleaned and lube and ready to install the Pertronix... I have used a few A1Cardone 914 rebuilt dizzys before.
Marcs dizzy had tons of grit inside I assume from the AlCan highway which is tough to clean out and the shaft slop was getting fairly bad. I assume the advance is still sticking.
I can send you a good 914 dizzy to keep you running. I am pretty sure I have one. It has the same advance curve although it has the FI trigger points for Djet inside too but you don't have to hook those up. |

The points (new) gave...a bad timing mark. What I mean is when using a timing light the mark (white spot) is all over the place by a good 6 degrees.
I didn't know about that, and retract my suspicions accordingly.
Interesting.... |

Trip update! Well we are down here in San Diego and we received our new rebuilt Bosch distributor in the mail from BusBoys in Redding, CA. The interesting thing -- after the 3rd cleaning of our old dizzy about two weeks ago, it's still working fine so we haven't swapped in the new one. I feel much more comfortable having the spare distributor with us though, especially since the roads are going to get very lonely once we begin the journey through southeastern California, Arizona, and New Mexico, and who knows what might happen on the dusty roads oh the Southwest!
Here's our PROPOSED trip route for the ride home to south Florida ... in case any of you are on our route east, let us know so we can stop on by! -Marc & Eliana

I'm in Gonzales, LA which is a few minutes south of Baton Rouge. So, you can peg that point on your trip map in case you need anything on the way through my area. Good luck! |

I'm in Los Alamos, just northwest of Santy Fe. You are most welcome to a place for the bus and the guest room. I've got a couple of Westies here, too, and can point you to some fantastic natural and archeological sites. So -- don't go across southern New Mexico -- come across northern New Mexico. It's stunningly beautiful. |

Yeah we've been thinking about changing up the route a little bit to include Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We also might stop through Phoenix, possibly even Tucson. Who knows! Part of the plan is to not have a definite plan! |

It's more fun when there is no definite plan! When you get to Las Vegas, you should check out Red Rock Canyon, or if you want to adventure out of the city head up to Mount Charleston or even Valley of Fire! There is a lot more to do here than loose money  |
