A journey as epic as yours really should include Monument Valley and Four Corners.

I am about halfway between Houston and New Orleans on I-10 I you want to stop by. If you need a place for the night that is cool or stopping by for some chow would be cool too.

I know it's months later, but I live right next to Tallulah Falls. I literally own property 5 miles from that store hahaha. Nice. Great story. I am doing the same hopefully this upcoming year. Any Advice? lol thanks

Do you by any chance remember the VW mechanic in Georgia's information, just curious, looks familiar. Thanks!! enjoy the last leg of your trip!

Update from the road: We've made it through the Mojave deserts of California, Las Vegas, Zion and Bryce Canyon in southern Utah, the Grand Canyon, and now here in Flagstaff, Arizona. This weekend we'll be camping in White Tank Mountain Regional Park in Phoenix with a bunch of other VW Buses!!!!

P.S. We swapped in our new engine distributor (a rebuilt Bosch), and our engine hiccuping problem at high RPM's persists! ARGHHHHHHHHH ... back to diagnosing!

Stay tuned to our blog for more adventures from the road! http://www.marcandeliana.com

This sounds like a valve problem. Have you checked out that possibility?

We got to hang with these guys and helped solve their problems. Camped with them at the Arizona Bus CLub Xmas Campout in the White Tanks Regional Park and the problem was a faulty petronix. We put the old distributor and points back in an the problem was solved. It was difficult to diagnose until we went for a ride and felt it. Good times. Guys travel safely and we will see you soon.
Also their bus is super clean for people living in it for 6 months.
We have some great pics for you guys also. stay tuned.

The Arizona Bus Club kicks ass! We had a great time camping with them for the holidays. We've moved through Phoenix and Tucson, and are on our way to New Mexico. Whoo-hoo! AND ... we fixed our engine bucking by replacing our Pertronix with good old points. Works like a charm. Now, if only we didn't have that stinkin' oil leak!

One more month left of cruising and our Bus is running great! After an awesome stay in Arizona, we spent a week drifting through southern New Mexico and now we're in west Texas. 7 months on the road and 1 more to go. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Hey

we are on the east coast of Florida. If your trip down the east coast includes A1A ( which I highly recommend-especially the portion from St Augustine To Ormand Beach) you can hang here for a night-dinner etc,. and a driveway with electricity to camp in.

sent you a pm.

We're in the home stretch! ... 1 more week to go after 8 months across the roads of North America. Working the east coast of Florida from Jacksonville to Miami this week. Stay tuned for the final trip update! And ... will there be a possible epic journey part B ? ;)

great thread...my wife and i left our jobs when we sold our house in NJ back in 1981 and bought a new Vanagon Westy...we traveled the lower 48 for 7 months and 9000 miles.
Always wanted to drive a Westy to Alaska.

LAND HO! The journey is complete! 8 months of cross-country cruising in our '78 Campmobile Bus; 25,000 miles from the sandy beaches of Florida to the icy glaciers of Alaska and BACK.

We arrived in our hometown of Miami and will be at the VOLKSBLAST show this weekend in South Miami! Come say hello if you're in the area! Our Bus, Valentina, is sparkling after a day of washing, waxing, vacuuming, and repairs ... hoping to come home with a trophy! :P

Our final trip tracks below, as plotted out on Google Earth using 8 months of accumulated GPS data. Thanks for tuning in to our little adventure  ... HUGE thanks to all the SAMBA members that made it possible, from your on-line advice to the many folks we actually met in person along the way. You guys helped put a roof over our heads, and played a big part in keeping our VW alive. THANK YOU!!!!

Cheers from Marc, Eliana, and "Valentina" the Bus
