I don't understand any of this. I'm very new to buses but when I drive mine around town and people get excited just seeing it, that makes my day when they come up to me and want to talk. So what if a few not so rare buses get painted with a beer logo, it's still getting people excited about seeing the advertising. It's not like there cutting them up and putting them in the shopping malls like the bay windows with the toys inside of them.

Who are the actual owners of these buses, their drivers or Pacifico? :?

If they are driver owned, the owner receives monetary compensation for advertisement. After the promotion they may or may not be able to keep "as is". If they are company owned, then anything can happen including offering them "for sale" possibly to employees first. But can be destroyed just as well. :(

It's funny how there are bus fanatics out there we've never even heard of.

craigy, you seem like a cool bus guy. I hope you'll post in here more often. You have tons of nice buses in your gallery. I'm sure we could learn much from you.

Do you have any pre-fire photos of this Wonder bread bus. This thing is/was cool.

I just hope that they don't do what UPS does to all of their vehicles when they are done with them. it is not incocievable that they would take them all to maaco for fesh paint jobs before selling them after they are done with them.

Basically, they strip them of anything they might be able to use on a similar model, spray them with cheap paint to cover up the brown and logos, then have the local tow service haul them to the nearest crushing yard and follow to make sure they get crushed upon entry. Fesh paint sucks, especially from Maaco.. Incocievable

Beauty is in the eye.......

Just think about how much beer was spilled in these OG paint busses back in the 60's and 70's. Or other fluids :?

Yellow coveralls with the company logo embroided on them would be a kool enough disguise while doing "maintenance". No one would give it a second thought. 8)

well im sure nobody gives a rats ass what i think but i have to agree with dougs opinion, its putting buses out into the world for more folks to notice and possibly invite new people into the scene/hobby which is win win. the folks who are getting all bent outta shape need to remember they made many many vw buses over the 55-67 era and believe it or not they are still out there. you just need to get off yer ass and go look for them or bust some ass stripping paint to find more, theres plenty out there

Can you share any more details about how you fixed the nose and saved the OG paint please? I'd just like to know for future repairs to my '61 Mango.

thanks

We have a baywindow at the local mall. I've never got close enough to see it. I didn't want anyone seeing cruising for Fat Chick

We wish.
Genuine German sheetmetal there, my friend.
Even 15" wheels and original hubcaps cut in half...
Still has an uncut dash with radio blockoff.
Unfortunately I just deleted a lot of detailed pics off of my cell phone.

That pic is from an old thead here:
