Some how when I saw that car I immediately thought of you Randy.

I think it is REALLY cool also.

Reminds me of the early literature ads.

At the risk of being boo'd and hissed at, but doesn't the design of the rear of the car remind you of a dog that has worms, scooting acros the lawn? Just an observation  ...as he ducks in the corner dodging spoiled fruit...honestly it's a nice car.... it has a great personality....

I see your point...it does have a bit of a drop to the tail... Its not the most beautiful design by any means, but it is so unique and the patina is very cool.

Slam that thing on earlies

(just kidding of course)

Seems to be a bit rich in iron oxide. I like it, too.

I would love to know how the weight compares to a standard beetle. I'll guess quite a bit more what with the extra bracing around the pan and the larger body.

I suspect the performance with a 25hp engine was less than dazzling.

Patina..???? You've got to be kidding. Come on Randy, you're not trying to sell it. It's a piece of rust shaped something like a VW. :D If you look really hard at it.........................you might even find an image of the baby Jesus.

I see it soft marble blue, slammed on BRM's with a 2332 and 51.5's.
man thatd be a bad ass car. imgaine seeing that thing pull away from you when your in your vette, like... WTF! hehe

It's an interesting design due to the fact it reflects the limited materials and manufacturing processes they had at the time. Looks like it'll take a whole truckload of blasting media to get it down to clean metal again.

Today my friend gave me some pictures of the other Kohlruss he already has. It looks like every car is different than the other.
One of his Kohlruss does also have the split beetle dash

Why are we only seeing pictures of rusty cars? Aren't there any that have been brought back to life?

eurodub Sun Jan 11, 2009 8:10 pm

I've seen some steyr cars in good shape but i'd love to have the kohlruss coachbuilt in the first pics. definitely a rare car right there. :)

look how funny is the windscreen washer setup with the shafts thorough the windshield's glass. a friend has another steyr , a 220 cabriolet, and it has the same cool setup. i know of a steyr 50 for sale, in decent shape but... it's really too much for me. 30's cars are tough projects and deserve to be restored the right way.

I hadn't noticed the slideback hard sun roof before. I agree, I would love to see one all restored......

The first one this thread started with is under restauration at the moment.
The metal work is already finished and it will be on the road this summer!
