I picked this little nugget up end of last year . I started tearing it down this spring . Some friends talked me into posting the progress . So here goes .
The day I picked it up .

The legs where worse then I thought of course so I had to get them patched up .
Currently both doglegs are finished . There is a small patch to do on the drivers side floor . |

The "A" pillars were wasted also and needed replacments along with the inner and outer valences . Oh yea I forgot to mention Gerson is the greatest !

For those of you that enjoy stock buses you might want to close your eyes . The fried eggs had to go and a 2" steering box raise was also in order .

I should have done this awhile ago . Now I'm bombing all these pictures in at once it's kind of a pain . I got a bunch more pictures to put in of the bed removal and the rockers and stuff but . I think I' ll resize them a bit smaller first . |

These pictures were taken tonight . I was test fitting and trimming the front outrigger to make room for the new inner rocker also test fit the lowers "C" pillar to the new inner rocker .
Pass side outrigger and jackpoint from treasurechest .
Pass side outrigger and jack point from wheelwell . I should be able to save this rigger just a small patch above it .

Here are a few pics of the removed bed . The center of the bed was rotted through almost front to back 2 ft wide wasn't much to save there . The cab seperation panel was not rusty but smashed pretty bad . Hopfully Gerson will start making them soon . I'm sending Him the one out of this truck .

Nice work bud. Stay motivated!
I'm waiting for the day Gerson starts sending over "Build you own bus" kits. You start with an engine, wheels, and a big box of green panels. In a year you have a 2009 split window bus. |

Signals are gone forever . I just don't like the fried eggs for this truck anyway .
It's going to get a narrowed adj. beam . It has a disc brake adj. ball joint beam in it now . I'd like to go back to LP beam .
I'm probably going to narrow the torsion housing in the rear so I can run type 1 short axles . It will give me more room getting the rear tires off . KCW's site explains how to do this and it seams to be a pretty straight forward modification . The truck already has a new type one tranny with bug long axles and notched spring plates . |

| Gerson is doing great work for these buses . If it wasn't for all the websites like this one and KCW's I would not atempt this big of a project . But with all the pictures and posts on the web for reference it feels like I've built 100 of these buses . |

I got the treasure chest floor out tonight . The fuel tank divider section is waisted . I have access to a brake So I'm going to try and fab up most of that tomorrow . I don't think Gerson is making that yet .
Can someone tell me what the threaded stud and the weldnut is for on the rear chassis cross brace ? It is pictured in the last picture . Most of this is missing on my bus and I have no idea what they are for ! ](*,)

| The stud hanging down in the treasure chest area is for the spare tire carrier. It looks like a hairpin and fits into a slotted bracket on the other side |

Wow major props to you ! That single cab was / is in need of a bunch of metal work. Looks like it you have it covered well though , keep up the good work and pics . I have a DC that needs most everything that your doing .
Oh and get a Tetnus shot ! :lol: |

The stud I'm refering to is much smaller and under the truck . The chassis crossbrace is under the gas tank between the chassis rails . |

Thanks for feedback . It keeps me motivated .
Spent a few minutes on the SC over the weekend . got the rest of the floor out under the fueltank along with 2 hats that were rotted . There is some fine trimming of the floor left to do . But thats no fun . So I got to replacing one hat ,outrigger and rearcross brace . Kelly was out of stock on the other rigger .
Does anyone know what this stud is for ? It is on the rear cross member facing the back of the truck .
