The mechanic liked what he saw and the gave his aproval!
All the brake-tests and all the other check-ups went perfect so it had passed with an A+!!
  as if it wouldn't have passed... if I was the inspector in the pit, I'd be shaking one off! That thing is straight up porn! Great work! And thank you for taking the time to share your images and journey from the beginning with us, yours has been one of the best threads, rock on! |

Wow, thanks guys!!
It's been a looooong journey but so worth it!
I'll keep updating it as I'm not 100% done with the interior yet.
I also have to install the pedalpan. I left it of so the inspection could
see everything better.
They check for play in all the steeringcomponents.
As for plans with this bus;
Besides taking it to shows we plan to make a lot of trips in it!
In about 6 weeks we'll be driving it to Austria for our summer holliday!
Can't wait to drive it in the Alps!!! |

I haven't been on your thread in awhile, but I wanted to convey to you how well of a job you have done. When you started back several years ago I had my eye on a Split Bus. After seeing your dedication I am going to go and get it after the end of summer. I can only hope that I will get to the bar you have set. You can definetly deserve to be proud of all the work you have done! |

Next week we're going to the european bug-in!!!
It's a 200 mile drive (each way) so I figured it would be a good idea to put some testmiles on it before that trip.
Yesterdaynight I drove to my buddy Niels (www.airmighty.com) his warehouse to check out his original dutch 51 crotchcooler bug which he just got back from the upholsterer who put in a new headliner.
Did about 130 miles and the bus drives like a dream!

My bus did awesome! Can't believe how nice and quiet it drives.
Now I really can't want to take it on our hollidaytrip to the alps!!!
Here are a few pics of my bus from this weekend..
More pics of the rest of the show (362 in totaal) on my website www.volksfahrer.nl!!

Little update:
You might have seen the vacation trip we made this summer: pics here.
Well, after that we sure didn't stop!!
We added more miles and smiles in my bus!
I took it to several shows:
Camped in it at a Dragrace event in Germany!
Various stuff:
And probably the last ride this season; taking my son to the beach last mondaymorning:
And a nice banana after all that running on the beach.
Engine is comming out in a few days as it has to much case-presure
and a leaking gearbox. |

Time for an other update I guess!
Last year just hours after the Spa Le Bug show in Belgium my engine seized...
It was just rebuild several 100km before but somehow I fitted the wrong oilpump
so it didn't fit into the cam all the way like it should.. F#CK!!
I parked he bus and let it collect dust for a while but a few weeks ago it was time
to get on the road again!
I got a new (used) crank and flywheel that I had balanced and a nice case that just needed
a good cleaning and line boring.
A buddy helped me put it back together and..... it's alive again!!!!!
Engine going back together:
At the MOT station (once every two years):
And driving!
And after a proper wash...........
It was time to take it to the biggest show in our country, the IKW at Wanroij (over 7000 cars!)
More of that on http://www.volksfahrer.nl!
And I even somehow managed to win a top 20 award!!
In the next few weeks it's time for Hessisch Oldendorf Vintage treffen, an night camping in my bus with my son and
a trip to the European Bug In. Fun fun fun!!!
And after that we're gonna go on summer holliday with the bus!
LIKE!!! |
