| My wiring harness as an alternator exciter wire. I want to keep this wire but can I add an led idiot light to let me know if I lose a alternator belt? |

A proper exciter wire should have a ALT lamp in circuit to begin with....
Standard incandescent lamp...
If going to use a LED...

You can add a led to the existing light and not have to add a diode. so u have 2 lights, the led will get power from the og light
