Our first Bay Window Bus! (an addition to our current vee-dubs)
We just bought a Bay window. It is basically in soun condition with OG A/C unit. Though the A/C unit needs to be checked for it to function properly.
We are really excited to drive her on a daily basis, especiall during long trips to the province.
Thanks,

Thanks, buddy! It is in good shape still. The PO kept it for two years in that same spot where I took the pictures! And the bus was spared from bad external elemets that may ruin the body and paint!
Though it need to be polished.
I'll post some better photos as soon as I have waxed and cleaned it!
Thanks,

Congratulations! Your going to enjoy the bus and it just might become your favorite vehicle to drive. They are fun to drive and get lots of peace signs from the younger generation these days. The youth seem to have a fondness for the busses.
There is so much room in them, it’s incredible. When we went camping with the bus this summer I was sparingly sorting through the gear before packing and then realized “Heck, I can just toss it all in the bus, leave nothing behind, not even the dogs!” Off we went with plenty of room to spare.
So, enjoy your bus and all the daily drives and adventures you will have.

Is it a sunroof? I looks like there is a little flap of some sort in one of the photos.
Love the bumpers too, never seen wrap-arounds like that before. |

Looks like a '72 to me, not really what I would consider a late Bay, but to answer your question--
Late Bays came with a Type 1 engine all over the world, except in the US where the T4 became standard in 1972.

Looks like silver spray paint to me, not chrome.
Very clean, great looking Bus though!! [/quote] |

that's a beauty! I agree about the spray paint, looks like the front grille, logo and bumper were done.
I don't see a sunroof, looks like a piece of cardboard sitting in the gutter.
Also, in the first pic it looks like there is a step there. Haven't seen that style before. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?
I'd be tempted to disconnect the air conditioning for a little extra power. Just use that hanging fan under the dash. Then again, I have no idea how humid and nasty it gets there. |

Thanks a lot for all those good comments, guys. Driving our KG 'vert is awesome, cruizing with our Type 3 (Sharky 3) is another experience and driving our 1302s bug is a true vw experience, but driving the bus is a different blissfulness altogether.
For sure, our bus will see more roads and go places now than with the other vee-dubs we have.

I was really checking on that issue, buddy. I am not really sure what exact year did Volkswagen use the Type 4 engine on the bus in the 70's. Though I have seen so manny late buses with Type 4 engine.
Thanks,

It is too humid there in the Philippines. That is why we really need A/C unit on the road. But, this season it a bit cool. During summer time, the heat is really to the bone. |

It was really the bus weekend special at home. I cleaned the bus in and out, then rubbed the paint. The paint looked like new thereafter. My wife and I drove the bus with our kids around. It was really fun. Our two kids liked to play and stay inside the bus.
I am planning of driving the bus this week tothe office.
Great Vee-dub! |

Very nice, what a beautiful bus! Thanks for taking the time to post the photos. You have inspired me to figure out how to embed photos in the posts.
I have discovered that a VW bus is more than transportation, it's:
- An adventure
- A passion
- An experience
- A knuckle buster (sometimes) :)
- A habit
- A journey
- Just a whole bunch of things I have never had with any other vehicle.
Cheers!
