Did you heat the lines up Skid? When I ran mine I used a hair drier to warm it up until it was soft, then it was easier to run.

I cut the IRS out of a striped '72 super beetle I brought home on Saturday, also nabbed the steering gearbox along w/ the Ujoints for 914 rack later on. Call to the scrap guy tomorrow and it'll be gone by the end of the day, just like the fastback that suffered the same fate last week.

Removed everything from the "new" passenger door and started the rehab process. Not that bad with help from the group here. Should finish that door tomorrow and start on the driver's side. Going to be so nice to have no rattling one piece windows.

Thursday, finished the passenger door rehab and installed it. No rattles.
Friday, while in Cincinnati, Oh, hit a local junck yard and grabbed two nice vinal bucket seats from a Ford Escort ZX2, 50 bux. I could not believe it. Can't wait to get back to Mo. and get them installed.

Worked on some more wiring, got everything under the dash, working on making it as clean as possible. Trying to retain the ability to remove the hood without too much work if possible. Laying under the dash is not a lot of fun, going to the .99 store to get a shitty pillow to use under my head

Put the motor back together to a long block. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
Should have it running this week, but I don't want to jinx it.

I bought home my markvfiberglass 1 piece front end

HamburgerBrad Sun May 31, 2009 9:36 pm

finally got the exhaust in place, ready to get the rear cage finished up. I left one of the pieces off when I welded the collector to the muffler. Modifications had to be made.

I think my wiring is finished, time to label my diagram so I can field trouble shoot it easier, and all I need now is my stupid flasher I ordered online to show up, and I am good to go, I hope.

check all fasteners, valve clearance, timing , add oil ( motor has never been fired ), adjust clutch, bleed brakes one last time, and see if she fires off. Oh yeah, 5 gallons of gas might help too.

Then we get to deal with registration and insurance.

Finally got around to rehabbing the "new" driver's door with new window channels, rubbers, and scrapers. Was all done in an hour, after learning how to do it while doing the passenger side. Glad to be rid or the rattling one piece windows. The previous owner did a real hack job on the old doors.

Made several small trips since reassembling the motor.
Seems to be fine. In fact, we reduced the compression and now it runs better than it ever has. 9.4 according to aircooled.net handy chart.
Planning a trip of about 90 miles next Sunday so we shall see.

Dan Which brand of window seals did you use Dan? I tried installing some J-Bugs scrapers recently and they don't fit. The spacing between the clips is wrong.
