These are various NGK Non-Resistor copper core 14 mm spark plugs. The spark plug gap indicates the gap as they come out of the box. The spark plugs are listed in order of heat ranges from the Hottest at the top to Coldest at the bottom. The spark plugs with a stock number listed are spark plugs that I have actually found being sold by someone online such as http://www.rockauto.com/ or http://www.ngk.com/ The spark plugs without stock numbers listed are valid part numbers, but may be difficult to find.

If there are numbers at the end of the spark plug number, it indicates the spark plug gap in mm. Example, a BP6HS10 has a 0.040" spark plug gap. A BP8HS15 has a 0.060" spark plug gap. If there is no number at the end it has a 0.025" gap.

For a stock 1600, the projected core non-resistor NGK BP6HS, or BP6HS10 is a good choice. With a high energy ignition system, such as a Jacobs, you can usually use a spark plug that is one heat range colder such as a BP7HS10, and help insure against pre-ignition or run on.

The only reason not to use a projected core spark plug is if you have an extreme engine with a turbocharger, or are using nitrous oxide, or have an extremely high compression ratio. A projected core spark plug acts like a hotter heat range spark plug at light load and keeps the spark plugs clean. At higher RPM at full load, the incoming fuel mixture cools the spark plug a bit making it act more like a colder heat range spark plug. Also, the projected core puts the spark further into the combustion chamber, thereby reducing the ignition lag time, and making your spark timing closer to optimum.

Resistor spark plugs have no place in any engine trying to achieve maximum performance or maximum gasoline mileage. The only purpose for the resistors is to eliminate electrical interference by the cheapest means possible. Not the best. With a high energy ignition system, using resistor spark plugs is like using a 2" merged exhaust system with a 1" stinger.

In my opinion, carbon core ignition wire, OEM VW ignition wire with the resistor spark plug ends, resistor rotors, and resistor spark plugs should be made ILLEGAL as they waste gasoline. Low loss spiral wound magnetic suppression ignition wires are readily available and will prevent radio noise. By using good quality ignition wires you can increase your spark plug gaps by about 0.005" because of the reduced losses, and improve your performance.

Thanks for trying, but all that is so over my head that I have no clue what you said.
