I don't mind the "new messages" line being moved up to the top... but (and I've not gotten any IMs since the change), I'm not sure if I'll notice it if it changes to include new messages. Unless it like changes to like, Red/bold type or something when that occurs. I have popup warnings set to happen when I get IMs but it depends on which computer I'm working at as to if I actually see them.

I like the new position of the message button too but I agree, if a new message came in it would be nice to have it turn red or flash or something.

It is less visible if it changes to saying 1 new message but the pop-up helps.

A color is not a bad idea, let me think about that.

Perhaps using a flashing notification in the white space where the old PM notification was?

in just about every ad that has a phone number. here is one example:

maybe it's because skype is downloaded on this computer? this does not happen on the computer i normally use, and that one does not have skype on it.
