I put a slightly larger gap in there.
I can't move it to the right because that doesn't work for every Forums screen. |

There are numerous sections that start in Type 2 and some that have a listings. The site is a bit inconsistent in that area.
Is it worth the extra step? |

Thanks Erik. A couple said it wasn't working right but it was fine once they did a page Reload. |

I only added a little space. Not enough? |

If so, clear your cache in your browser and it should load it correctly.
(Hopefully).
Otherwise, post what browser program and version you are using.
I'm using ie7 at home and at work. I read this thread and was wondering what this big vertical header was everyone was talking about. Just logged on on the work machine, and found it. Clearing cache, and refreshing doesn't take care of it. :( |

How about Ctrl+R? Reload.
It works on IE7. |

Same here. It was fine yesterday. The problem doesn't occur on the "Home" and "Classifieds" page, but does on the others.
The problem I was having is gone now. Thanks. |

I like the drop-downs and the updates.
I had to allow pop-ups for the site to not get the vertical bullets.
I still miss petting the Samba dog though. |

The dropdowns get in the way sometimes, and I have to move my mouse away to make the dropdown disappear. For example, the 'forums' dropdown completely conceals the 'new messages' link which makes me have to approach the link from the bottom.
In all honesty, thesamba.com is a very fast site. I have never had a problem clicking on the links before; they took me where I wanted to go without any delay. The dropdowns make perfect sense for a site that employs slow servers/ISPs, which limiting the amount of clicks would do wonders by limiting waiting times. But as of now, there are no waiting times. Are the dropdowns an attempt to speed things up, or for ease of navigation? |

Maybe now they'll start to investigate what's under a dropdown whereas before they didn't seem to want to venture to other links. |

I am pretty agile with my mouse, and usually can land my mouse directly on any frequently visited link, such as 'new messages'. I find that when I try to land my mouse on the link quickly, I happen to pass over the 'forums' dropdown, which consequently opens the dropdown menu and causes me to click 'memberlist' inadvertently. |

I have been trying to re-learn approaching links from the bottom, so as not to trigger the drop downs. I agree, it can be frustrating, but at least they don't stick open like I have seen on some sites.
A necessary delay in hovering to trigger the dropdown would be a nice upgrade. |

What about moving the PM messages link from the center of the screen? I'm on some other forums where the PM link is in the upper right hand corner of the top menu. |

Due to feedback both here and privately, I moved it to the upper left by log in/log out header items. It is still visible, although maybe not as much so.
I intend to make it site-wide at some point so a header menu location makes sense.
It's in the Forums menu too but that's only so it's available site-wide and in an alternate location.
Both the header and menu links appear only when logged in. |

^^ Nice! That works great. But of course the 'Home' dropdown still covers the page numbers. But like Jen say; at least they don't stick open.

A simple 1 sec. hover delay would be awesome. This would prevent a simple pass over from producing the dropdown. Maybe even as you hover over the tab, it glows, prompting 'nubs' to hover for longer in order to produce the dropdown. Genius. |
