so did you just lay the drivers seat stand mat horizontally and go for it?

I really wish these were made. I could use one as well

I could use three of them! One single cab, one double cab, and one 9-seat Transporter.

Send me a PM, I might be able to help you out.

It has been awhile since the last update. Engine is in (thanks Colin!), took my first drive around the block in 10 years. A couple neighbors came out of their house and cheered. Guess they are tired of seeing it parked in the garage.

Engine lid installed.

Rear bumper assembled

Rear bumper installed (still need to bolt it up).

Important to have a guard dog in this neighborhood.

Jig I made for reassembling the side vent windows. Too bad most of the frame gets covered with the seal, the powder coating turned out great.

How much do you have left before your son's wedding? Your other thread stated you were in a hurry, but didn't give much detail as to what you are lacking. If you are driving it, sounds like you are good to go for the wedding. Is there something major stopping you from using it?

Can't wait to see your finish product. Have a buddy here in Texas who completed his DC and drives it a lot. Good luck.

Front bumper and dash top on. Both went rather smoothly.... I needed a couple that went according to plan.

It was a productive weekend, with all the side glass now in, mirrors on, door seals on and aligned. BIG shout out to asiab3 (Robbie) for seeing my shameless plea and stopping to help. He has been a godsend, working tirelessly for 2 days straight in the Midwest heat and humidity with only occasional breaks for pop tarts. Well, maybe a beer break or two plus a quick trip to the beach, but mostly work. Windshield install appointment set for Wednesday.

Wow.. that beauty looks showroom fresh! Well done.

Good on Robbie! It's great to see him out on the road, doing what he loves.

zoobum Sun Aug 21, 2016 5:21 pm

Congrats!!!

Its very inspiring to see where you were to where you are now. Glad you stuck with it and got the help you needed to be able to see this beauty in its full potential.

Great, just great!

**Also props to Robbie coming through.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I couldn't have done it without Colin and Robbie. Well, I might have been able to but it wouldn't have been pretty. :-)

New vapor barriers

New door panels installed

Tilt frame powdercoated and new ash slats installed (can't get in and out of the garage with this thing installed!).

Super awesome. Congratz on a fine looking ride. When is the wedding? I'm pretty sure they will be super excited for the ride in the back.

Do you plan on putting bed liner in the back? or getting a rubber mat of some kind for protection?
