View original topic: How much HP do you see from this build?

I am curious and this is how I learn is to ask experts.
posted below is the build sheet a friend is doing and while I admit it sounds radical to me,
I believe his HP perdictions are a bit on the high side,
My questions are,
What HP do you see from this build?
How street friendly will this be?
How long will the life of such a build be?
Many thanks

"CB 044 44/37.5 stage 7 heads worked on by AJ Sims - Case is a clearenced 82x94 with a SCAT Chevy flanged crank - SCAT 5.4 H beam Push rods (Chevy Journals) and Mahle 94mm jugs - Dual Delorto 48 mm down draft carbs - Latest cam is a Web 109 cam with a SCAT lifters and a straight cut cam gear It has a 1 ½ deep sump oil pan - Either 1/,25 or 1,40/1 rockers - - 1 ¾ or 1-5/8 sidewinder merged headers. I’m leaning toward the 1-3/4."

I would ask the head builder what power they will make. isnt that a small cam? for that engine? again ask the head builder on the cam...
I would have to go look at web cams book.

160 to 180 with that cam.Good midrange,though.FK-89 will get you closer to 200.

Art is right; the Web 109 is too small of a camshaft to make use of those heads. Heads that large want something in the neighborhood of an 86b or 86c (or more)...over 0.100" lift more than what the Web 109 delivers. IIRC, the 109 is intended for 1.1:1 rockers. If he's going to run 1.4:1 rockers, at the very least step up to the 86b and let the heads breathe like they are designed to do.

i see anywhere from 120hp to 250hp. you never mentioned compression ratio. is it gonna be 6-1 or 15-1!!! a little more info would be needed to give an accurate guess.

Then your friend, I hope, knows that if he can make any decent horsepower he needs to contemplate what will be needed to place that on the pavement like a clutch, transaxle/cv joints, gears, transmission, "traction enhancement system" and probably need to be lowered so it don't fly :D

Mismatching the heads to cam to practical rpm range is one of the worst things you can do. That will make an expensive 3 legged dog.

I am a bit unclear as to when the stock transaxle, transmission and gears go since I saw that rotary bug run. He had already sheered the teeth off third though and it wasn't hooking up good.

Maybe 140 hp, depending on the tune. Different cam and compression would wake it up for sure. 86C or FK 8 with those heads they want to see some compression, add a cam = Horsepower. Good luck

It will beat a Corvair  Hey P What up? Heads are to big I wouldn't go any bigger than 42x37 and a K8 cam 1:4 rockers, 1 5/8 header for torque or the 1 3/4 for topend, the rest of it sounds good,Is this for the Laser917?? 8) Madmike
