Women (girls) in general are more meticulus when it comes to clearance and tolerances.

Is it just me or did the number four rod look spun?? I was always told to NEVER reuse black rods as that is a sign for overheating/spun and the heat weakened the rod.

BTW great kid

My two (16 and 14 y/o) are about to graduate from the riding lawnmower.

I will start them out rebuilding a 5HP Briggs/Stratton. See if they can make it run. I am sure it won't be long before they are hogging the milling machine or lathe. Gotta school them on that too.

I remember my son at 4 hammered the bathroom mirror when we bought him a small carpentry set. Whew...almost gave me a heart attack.

I am very impressed by children who take it upon themselves to learn something and sometimes it gets hard and never quit.

Yes it was. We only used the old case, got new rods, jugs & pistons, crank, cam and bearings.

Now if your wife teaches her to cook, and she learns to fish she will be married early!

With the case machined and cleaned and the crank assembled and lots of clearance checks, she started the actual motor building. New bearings went in the case then the crank and cam.
