Rear bumper cut out for pea shooter beetle exhaust, and are those 4 lug drums on the back, straight axle conversion? Junk for sure.

Sleeps with the fishes.

Don't scrap that thing, save it! If you have the time and the elbow grease, anything can be saved. Oh, and money. Don't forget the money. But if this guy can afford to close off a road and get the equipment to get this thing out in the first place, I don't think restoring it should be that big of a deal.

jeremyrockjock Sun Aug 16, 2009 6:26 am

Thats not worth restoring. Its too far gone. I bet the metal is paper thin.

glowplug Sun Aug 16, 2009 7:15 am

Save it? Is this what we've resorted to? Much nicer buses with better stories have been cut up by sane people b/c they knew they were too far gone. This one has more than a few PO hacks too. Cool recovery though.

I concur- I guess I never really wanted to see closeups of that bus.

The rear corners look like OG paint with no metal behind them.

my65vert Sun Aug 16, 2009 6:00 pm

take a couple nice artsy pics, maybe a couple parts and then put it right back in the lake where it was for another 40 years.

it's wasted.

He hit the nail on the head. The true damage is happening right now in front of everyone's eyes. Now that air is hitting that poor bus it will disintegrate right before their eyes untreated.

Put it on display in the Wolfsburg museum in a huge fishtank!
