Hey guys, I need some help here. I am really new to vw's and buggies. I just finshed building a little 2 seat sand rail. 2332 type 1 turbo charged with a bus box. I am starting to drive it around and I notice that if I try and take off in first really slow and smooth the buggy kinda jerks fwd and back untill I get above 3000 rpm or so. But if I take off hard in first its smooth. Is this normal for vw's? I also notice when I rev up the motor, and let it come back down it comes back down pass idle and almost stalls then comes back up to idle. Is this normal for vw's?

Nope, neither of those conditions are normal for VWs.

A 2332 stroker with a turbo throws all the "normal" stuff out the window.
How some specs on the engine combo?

As for the jerking issue, Is your Bowden tube there and in good shape?

BTW the Bowden tube is the tube that runs from the tunnel toward the firewall that the clutch cable runns through, If it is not there you will get a jerking , the clutch cable is supposed to slide on the inside of it to make for a smoother shift.

I second getting more bend in the Bowden tube for the jerking. Also looks like the carb could use a little tuning. What carb is it?

It's a rail with hydro clutch. I have a holly 500 on top. Wastgate at 8 lbs. 009 locked to 24*. I have a feeling it's my ign set up. Or maybe just needs tuning....

Could it be the clutch causing the jerkieness at a easy take off?
