On my build it is not possible to use a factory oil cooler due to clearance issues. I have a large Setrab cooler, 10" electric fan, oil cooler bypass thermostat, and inline electric switch to control a relay to control the fan. This will all be plumbed in the full flow lines after the filter.
I was thinking of mounting the inline switch between the Setrab outlet and the thermostat bypass. This seems logical to me because I only need to cool the oil if it is above 180 coming out of the cooler to the engine? Does the location make a difference, or am I thinking too much? |

Yep. After.
You only want the fan to run if the free airflow through the cooler isn't enough, right?
Naturally, you should mount the cooler such that it gets plenty of free airflow just from the forward movement of the car.
