stop screwing around trying to re-invent the wheel by trying to make a bus a heavy duty "comabt vehicle" and move over to the correct vehicle. You'll have more fun.

I agree: tried a unimog lately?
If you like it, here's the Samba thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2...ght=unimog
But if you're intent on modifying your bus, go for it. I've done a few mods to mine; nothing like that big red tonka bus, which I think is freaking perfect. (If you ever want to sell it, name your price!). Be aware it'll have almost no resale value (tonka bus excepted!), but if that isn't a problem, the build it, and LOVE it forever. |

a friend of mine takes splitties offroading. I'm pretty sure they are mainly stock, just raised a bit (he has a type4 in his current bus).
backroadbus.com
He's in the split forums too as travelvw. They can do a pretty amazing amount of offroading stock, raise them a little and you're ahead of the game. Just be sure to raise them correctly or else you get a really squirrely suspension. |

A Pinz is one of those vehicles that's hard to get a sense of size if there's not a person right around it in the photo.
For years I thought these things looked massive, until I finally saw one in person.
I was like whaaa???? So tiny. |

100k? we've got a 58 unimog sitting in our garage that with some fresh wood in the bed and a weekend tune up could be back on the road... got it for far less than 10k. |
