I had a question I was thinking about an engine swap with a EJ20 DOHC Subaru Impreza Twin Turbo Engine from http://www.tigerjapanese.com and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get it or one without the turbos which shows is more expensive without them. and would i have to get a different transmission or would my stock one in my 71 Super Beetle suffice?
Thank You Guys

| you could use the stock transmission as long as you don't give it more than 1/2 in throttle. |

| I currently am doing a ej20t, got the adapter plate from outfront motorsports. when I bought my engine it was right around 850$ shipped to me from cali I am in washington. everything was complete minus the ecu and intercooler. I say go with the turboed engine if you go with the one without a turbo and want more power your probaly going to spend more $ in the long run. You are definently going to want to look into getting a built trans. but hey you could wait on that till you get it running. |

| Be aware it is far from a plug and play engine swap. Lots of fabrication to make it look, fit and function properly. Lot's of tuning. |

Factory scirocco radiator...
with the summitt dual fans...
stinger from outfront!
plent of ground clearance with the 30 degree tranny adapter?
even some good heat for those chilly days using the orgional heater channels...
some guages to let me know what is going on...
Very happy with this vehicle , plenty of power (200hp) and very driveable....
Only 1 thing is using up this factory 091 clutch and probably needing a satge 1 or 2? |

Thanks!
Freakin Sweet man!!
Nice and smooth and plenty of power...
No smelly heat, starts in the cold with no icing up...
Good on gas (haven't figured out the mileage)...
The stinger ecm is great, totally adjustable...
The only con is the electric fans I need to get more air flow to the radiators...
There is no problem with over heating the fans keep it around 180 deg but I would like the fans to shut off when driving artound town...
I am going to try installing an oil cooler to try to reduce the engine temps before I think about adding vents to the front area under the hood...
I have a scoop under there but I might need more air....
Have any pics of your ride? |

| The one thing OutFront Motorsports can't do, is tune the motor to where it starts easy and dependably when the outside temps get below 50 deg. or so. |

I've heard that from a guy with a manxter at show...
So what dose it do when it gets that cold?
It hasen't been quite 50 hear yet but I'll keep an eye on it?
I asked Jeremy at outfront about this issue he said I shouldn't have a problem!
This was the conversation....
Hey Jeremy,
I have a couple of questions?
I talked to a guy at a show the other day aith a Manxter with an ej25 dohc with the ecm you guys recommended for my car, he said there is no cold start with the ecm?
Is that right?
And another question when i reversed my intake manifold I am assuming that I need to reverse my coil back around for the proper cylinder?
Do I need to change around my fuel rails as well or just install the corresponding injector plugs to the correct cylinder?
thanks john
There is cold start and also it can be wired to have idle control solenoid. If you reversed your intake just let us know when you order the wire harness and we can wire it accordingly. The injectors won’t matter.

| Your gearbox should be fine but youll need a stronger one soon cause most turbo engines chew up gearboxes. Its been done heaps here in aus at the moment, good luck with it, make sure yo get a hortened sump and youll have to do a fair amount of work if you wanna save some money. |

Nice clean install, but the welds on the exhaust are hideous. |

| Looks like trying to weld stainless or a different grade steel to mild steel, will make it hard to runa good weld. |
