So is it possible to fit a doghouse fan shroud on a 1300sp with the doghouse oil cooler and adapter? Is it to big for the cylinder tins and will I need a different fan? Need a little help so any advice would be awesome thanks. |

Yes, it is possible, but it's not a simple bolt on thing. The non-doghouse oil cooler is mounted with two 6mm studs from the cooler housing, and one 6mm stud from the engine case. The doghouse cooler mount is mounted in a similar way, but uses 8mm hardware. The holes on the case that the newer cooler mount's 8mm studs would go in can simply be drilled out to 8mm, from 6mm. The 6mm stud on the case can be replaced with a longer 6mm stud, and can be used with a wide washer, but it's better to drill and tap the case for an 8mm stud. This can be done by removing the 6mm stud, then you need to find the depth of the hole with the end of a paper clip, or something. Drill out the hole only to your needed depth, or you will actually drill into the inside of the engine. Then get a "dead end" 8x1.25 tap to tap it to 8mm. The non-doghouse cooler also uses a smaller different seal between the case, and cooler than the doghouse one does. You will need to get adapter seals specifically made to mate the small seal surface of the older case to the newer, larger seal surface of the doghouse cooler mount. The seals between the doghouse cooler, and cooler mount are just the standard late seals. That will take care of the cooler. The doghouse fanshroud is the same dimension as the non-doghouse one where it fits in the cylinder tins, so you won't have to worry about that. You will need the doghouse shroud, the small tin peice that attaches the rear of the shroud to the oil cooler (sometimes refered as the hoover bit), the two pieces of tin that exit the hot air from the doghouse area of the shroud, the forward engine compartment sealing tin with the hole for the hot air exit tin, and you will need to get the wider doghouse fan like you mentioned. Hope that helps some.
Edit: I guess you'll need the doghouse oil cooler, and cooler mount as well. |

FYI, for the 6mm on the case, I used a 6mm to 8mm step-stud. Did not have to do any drilling |
