so the trip begins, friday, 08:00:01 and counting.....

this was some cool weather coming over the tressel on highway 2

made a quick pitstop for some parts outta my stash and breakfast :D:

leavenworth, stopped to walk a river with a buddy:

here i tweaked on the Air flow meter and we shall see if the mileage improves....

more dirt:

this is overlooking wenachee

was driving down a closed road...(shh.... :-S ) and someone parked in the middle of the road...jerk...

so i grabbed a shovel and cleared the way and such:

thats before of course....

took 3 try's to get over the dirt...the second left me two wheeling...the right rear and left front left the ground!

got out of that road and checked my gps...i was on ...mission ridge ski resort! IN THE RESORT! sadly, it was night time, so no pics on the hill to prove it...but i followed the road down the mountain to the entrance, and drove back out to the highway after that to get to vantage, where i topped off.
while topping of in wenachee i noticed this after the dirt roads:

and so i checked my wires and noticed two looked like this:

just bought that set...time for a new set i guess!

as i left vantage, i took old vantage highway. the moon was so bright, i actually killed all my lights and drove without any lights on for over 25 minutes on the way to ellensburg. it was amazing, sketchy, and well worth it :D
after topping of in ellensburg, i was on my way out of town to canyon river road and found these wayward canadians:

we cruised in together to big pines, where we arrived at 1:30 am, and stayed up till 3am talking and everyone else drinking beer, sitting in the back of the split on the left with a buddy heater on. it was a toasy 45*f outside..... :)

saturday, getting started around about 10:45:01 or so and counting...

this guy was holding his kid right in front of his bus just to kep the kid happy and i walked by and snapped this pic before they saw me...candid shot! :D

after the river float, around 3, we all lined up to head into moxee as a group:
(many of the same pics...sorry...got carried away...)

the crew all behind me since i was the fastest....

and knew where i was going :) (a crucial part if you want to lead ;) )

i set up my tent...

as did others :)

sunday morning! woke up around 8:30, and got the ball rolling...heres what i woke up to:

lined up to head home via highway 12:

got gas (not rivi and vanagon in the background...)

then got some sweet rolling shots of DaleNW in his freshly finished resto:

then the group split and they took 12, the three of us took 410:

then dale took off to make it home for his amazing wifes sake (Thank you stacy for letting dale come play with us!!! :D )

which left me and lynn searching for a camp spot near bumping lake/river area....

as dale headed home, Lynn and I drove up a beautiful road toward bumping lake...

we stopped for plenty of pics!

but with daylight still going on, we moved on for a bit...to return when it got dark...

and the story continues.....

we made it up to the lake, bumping lake:

got some cool scenery shots, sorry for any duplicates, there were lots of angles to play with...

got back to camp near dark, and had the busses set up and made some dinner while swapping life stories about VW's, Sailing, and trip ideas and bus mods...

got some Dave Manning music playing, then ate dinner...

then we watched the bus movie, just to say we did! :D i went to bed halfway through, even though its my favorite movie....i was tired....

the next morning woke up to this:

lynn wanted notchboy to know he thinks Notch is a wuss for not getting any dirt on his BFG tires yet...so we took some proof that lynn used his for their intended purpose:

bay pride alliance bus got dirty with us ;)

and mine too just because:

*note oil splatter from blown oil filter seal (new on thursday, when it blew the first time....so now i gotta find the real issue...suspect case relief plug sticky...)

best ending to a trip...nearly home and saw this killer sunset to top of a day of astounding God made Beauty. :)

trip report:
damages acquired, blown oil pressure switch and oil filter seals (minor)

trip mileage:
422 miles

Gas used:
42.1 gallons

about 10 mpg it looks liek :( most of that is due to dirt roads and idling while stopped and 1 and 2 gear roads for many miles...but still disappointing mileage!

best was 20 mpg from vanage to ellenburg...but most of the pavement sections was still near 15 mpg. not the best, but better than the 10mpg i have been getting around town lately...

total cost:
243.15
that includes 32 spent at the swap at the show....

but i also made some money too...70 bucks selling parts. so that makes the trip total cost: 173.15!

smiles per gallon:

MILLIONS!

great trip, and i cant wait till next time :)
