| Rays fan here. My wife and I got into baseball after we played on a company softball team about 4 years ago. I also did some work for the rays and got to meet some of the personnel, which got me into it as well. We usually try to go to about 10 games a year, and watch most of the rest on TV. |

| I was a bit surprised to find so much Pirates talk here, good to see not everyone has abandoned them! For me it's not optional, they are built into my DNA. Sunday dinner at either grandparents followed by Bob Prince and Nellie King on the radio. I was only 2 when Maz's home run beat the Yankees, but I was at Forbes Field when Stargell hit his first (of 7!) over the right field roof and was also there the night Clemente threw (Lopes I think?) out at 3rd from the RF corner. (watch for it on the highlight clips!) I still can't think about The Great One without shedding a tear. Damn, I'm doing it now.  |

Quote: Ryan Howard will remain in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform through the 2016 season after agreeing to a five-year extension worth an average of $25 million per year.
The slugging first baseman has agreed to a $125 million extension that will kick in starting with the 2012 season. If the team picks up its option for the 2017 season, Howard could earn $138 million.
He and Halladay got shut down last night! It was a good game. |

Looks like Chipper doesn't have much time left. Think he'll retire before getting traded? |

| Chipper has said when he is no longer productive, and can't be an asset to the team, he will retire. I think this is far more likly than a trade. |

| Mets have to beat on Phils this weekend. Gotta get a big lead to hopefully counteract the September meltdown. |

Giants fan here. Always have been, always will be.
I love the Giants broadcast staff. Kruk and Kuip are excellent, but I don't have TV, so I spend the season with Miller and Flemming on KNBR. I think these 4 guys are the best in the business. |

The Hatred Index
Using an algorithm designed by Nielsen Co. that measures positive and negative reactions on the Internet, here are the 10 most despised teams in baseball (scale is -5 to 5).
Team Score
1. Cleveland Indians 0.9
2. Boston Red Sox 1.1
3. Cincinnati Reds 1.5
4. Houston Astros 1.8
5. New York Yankees 1.8
6. Washington Nationals 1.9
7. Chicago White Sox 2
8. Baltimore Orioles 2
9. New York Mets 2.3
10. Los Angeles Dodgers 2.4
The San Francisco Giants (4.5) and Oakland Athletics (4.2) were the most-liked teams on this scale, suggesting that laid-back Northern California fans are the most accepting. |
