I love the Giants broadcast staff. Kruk and Kuip are excellent, but I don't have TV, so I spend the season with Miller and Flemming on KNBR. I think these 4 guys are the best in the business.

Using an algorithm designed by Nielsen Co. that measures positive and negative reactions on the Internet, here are the 10 most despised teams in baseball (scale is -5 to 5).

Team Score
1. Cleveland Indians 0.9
2. Boston Red Sox 1.1
3. Cincinnati Reds 1.5
4. Houston Astros 1.8
5. New York Yankees 1.8
6. Washington Nationals 1.9
7. Chicago White Sox 2
8. Baltimore Orioles 2
9. New York Mets 2.3
10. Los Angeles Dodgers 2.4

The San Francisco Giants (4.5) and Oakland Athletics (4.2) were the most-liked teams on this scale, suggesting that laid-back Northern California fans are the most accepting.

The Giants have such a great venue that a lot of people go just for the stadium, I'm not proud to say. And Oakland fans have more to worry about than hating other teams; getting out of that crap hole stadium and into your cars without getting mugged is a feat within itself!

Team Score

1. New York Yankees
1. Boston Red Sox
2. Los Angeles Dodgers

Those three are the worst. I'll watch any game without the Yanks an Sox even if they are getting blown out- i really hate them and their fans.

The Dodgers blow too, but their socal fans are soft enough to not take seriously.

We had pitching the last few years where you been? Sanchez threw a no hitter, Lincecums second Cy Young, Johnsons best NL season as well.

i used to like listening to Jon Miller when he was doing his time in Baltimore.

My questions to Yankee haters: Is it because of Steinbrenner or did you hate the Yankees pre-Steinbrenner? Or is it the Yankee fans? or both?

I grew up a Met fan in the 70's during the Yankee hey-day. I hate them.

A lot of yankees fans seem to just hop on the bandwagon.

i agree but you could say that about anyone that has just recently become a fan of a winning team. Would you call someone who became a fan of the Red Sox after they finally won a world series in 2004 that? i would.

since i have been a Yanks fan since 74 or so, i don't fit into that category.

No kidding was at the Angel / Yankee game last weekend at Angel Stadium. Lots of pinstripes for the first time in a long time. Probably because the Yankees have beat the Angels in 1 series since 2003 (two if you count last years ALCS). So when I asked a bunch of pinstriped fans who's only words were "27" if they had actually been to a Yankee home game all I heard was crickets.

MrBreeze Sat May 01, 2010 8:45 am

It'll happen when the Mets are playing well too. You wonder where those people were when the team stunk. I remember in 1979 being at Shea with crowds of 3,000. Then, in '86, you couldn't get a ticket cause all the corporate schmoes got them all.

The Rangers and Knicks are the only teams that consistently sell out because the corporate guys always buy the tickets no matter how they play cause it's "fashionable" in NYC.

Its hard to slog through a bad season...I play out the string, but its usually checkin boxscores or listening on the radio when Im doing something...but their aint nothing like starting the season with a club and going till october when they are in the chase...a thrill the bandwagoners never know...

What team besides the Giants would have the Grateful Dead sing the National Anthem?

johnnypan Sat May 01, 2010 10:39 am

That there is the Stick...nuthin like a friday nite game against the dodgers ...the "Hawk"(fog) would come rolling in over the third base side...one cold ass mother,if ya were at an extra inning night game you would get a pin,the "croix de stick" a medal of honor for toughing it out..

I was at this game. The Dead came up into the stands afterward and I got to meet Jerry and Bob Weir. It was the only time I ever saw Jerry. I've been to a bunch of Dead shows, all post-Jerry.
