what happens with amazon (and ebay actually) is that when someone gets low, their automatic inventory alert goes into effect, and starts jacking up the price.

just find another vendor

Some of the eBay ones can be funny. I've seen $999.99 for a $5 air cleaner...

Of course you could always do what I've said before - GO TO A PAINT STORE AND GET REAL COLOR MATCHED SPRAY PAINT

LOL :D

$25 for that can at the paint store, or six bucks for a can that is perfect to touch up an imperfect car/bumper/wheel.

Don't have any close ups handy, but I painted the caps and emblem with Rusotleum gloss smoke grey. I used the oil based stuff out of the quart size can. Shot through a detail gun with a little acetone to thin it out. Flowed out great and the finish is holding up well. Might be a little darker than original. I think the paint was about 6 bucks.

Hey What size are your tires on this one? I want to put these all-terrains on my panel bus. Looks Good

I used that Krylon Battleship Gray on my Neptune Blue double cab, for bumpers and wheels. I rather like the color combination, and bumpers are always needing touchup, so having a cheap rattle can color on hand is nice.

Here it is on a wheel rim:

Not without a license for shipping hazardous materials.

WTF are you talking about? You absolutely can - I do it all the time. It's stupid to ship a damn $5 can but thats beside the point. I ship the old R12 Freon, Paint, whatever... You just have to ship it ground

After all the suggestions about Krylon Pebble and Krylon River Rock as matches to L345 Licht Grau, I decided to do a test. Here are photos of the three, applied side by side, on a white base, in outdoor light. This is as good as a comparison gets. I'd have to say that the match is not good.

top to bottom:
Krylon Cover Maxx 9173 Satin Pebble
A very good L345 match done recently
Krylon Fusion 2423 Satin River Rock

That's cool that you did that. looks like the color matched paint is different than the cans, but I think from bus to bus it would be slightly different too. When I used to work with carpet and a customer wanted to buy a new piece of the same color, it didn't match because they say the dye lots differ. So it was tough to match the old carpet to a new piece of the same stuff. Thanks for the test!

I finally got a recipe for the subject paint!

This is for L345 Light Grau (Light Gray) as matched by the Sherwin-Williams Automotive guys in Albuquerque. This color should be in their system now.

This is a single stage paint, based on Dimension Hp SS

Recipe is for 2 quarts, so scale accordingly. All masses are in grams.

Code:
DM 633 DIMENSION  974.81 g
DM 522 Strong W   796.35
DM 500 Strong W   180.51
DM 528 Ferrite    152.90
DM 505 Green       23.36
DM 532 Magenta     14.87
DM 510 Blue         2.12

As far as I can tell, there is still no suitable match in an off-the-shelf spray can.

Anyone ever find anything close to L680 cumulus white? Local paint shops can't mix it. Gave them L680 and PPG 8649. Any help appreciated.

My Krylon Dover White to replace the L 82 Silver White came out nicely. I'll post my match of Krylon Almond for Pearl white on that lower nose issue tomorrow.

Krylon Almond is not a good match for L87 Pearl

LAGrunthaner Thu Jul 05, 2018 11:17 am

Erik G, I agree, I bought it as per recommendations here and tried testing on some other metal and nowhere near the correct color.

anyone try to find a matching color for commercial gray color found in panels and kombis cargo area. That matte gray color. I did try skimming through this thread, mostly L345 colors.

I looked through a lot of posts but didn't see a Krylon (or other brand of spray paint) for a "Fontana Gray" match? any suggestions?
Thanks, Bob (1966 bug)

If a single cab was sealing wax red would they have the gray hubcaps on them?
