I think that problem is not that Bad Camberg will not be good enough for us because there will less of most original cars because organisers like restored show shine condition cars more than most original cars with some patina ..

for me it is only sad fact that one of best shows dedicated to vintage volkswagens will not be richer by adding few original paint cars like cherries on big cake made from restored boring cars more shiny than they went from factory ...

I'm just happy to be going to the BBT Party, BAD CAMBERG ! & the Euro Bug In, 2nd time around !!!!!!
This time we will have more free time before & after the shows to hang & meet people & try to look up some old country relatives in Belgium....

Bjorn, I agree with a lot of things you say, but not everything...
I do love vintage, I do love standard height, and I love the most possible original cars. And when I say original, it includes the paint! I prefer to see a restored barndoor kept with the most possible OG paint on it and restored with the less possible repro parts, than a bus fully restored with everything changed and repainted better than new at the period. For sure, in some cases, you can't avoid to restore it with loads of new parts, or it won't never be driven again.

But sorry, OG paint (and sometimes a bit rusty) vehicles which respect other vintage rules (OG wheels, OG height, OG engine) are highly vintage vehicles, and must have their place in Camberg and in every other vintage show.

Please, don't mix everything!!! It's not because people have some rust on their vehicle that they drink too much, are sleeping on the grass on the next morning with broken bottles around them!!! These were only a few in 2007, and nobody want to see it on a vintage show, for sure. But I don't think that the people who ride rusty vintage vehicles would do that...

I read the rules in original, German language, and from my point of view vehicles in this state are actually welcome at Bad Camberg.

So, where's the point?

Sorry, but why "H-Kennzeichen erhalten würden"??? The rules to get a historic license in Germany are very restrictive, but can a rusty (but unmodified) vehicle have it?
Why taking the German road regulations as an entry basis for a Vintage show??? :shock:

Yes, a rusty but unmodified vehicle can get H-status over here.

Lottermanns will not have a TÜV-engineer at their place to check the vehicles with minute care ;-) .

I understand that they appreciate a framework, and when it becomes "difficult" they (as the host) decide what goes beyond the scope and what not. That's all right with me.

In 2007 I was somewhat disappointed that due to the rainy weather many participants (like my friends) decided to leave their vintage cars or coachbuilts at home and took their modern rides. That's a point to work (or worry?) on, in my opinion...

Are you telling me it's unacceptable to lie on the grass at vintage vw shows? I have a rusty 52 bus and have been drunk at a vw show and have been lying on the grass.....

Whats wrong with sleeping on the grass and having had a few beers?

I totally know what you guys are talking about :evil: I went to HO 09 and was fully disgusted with the people there! There were people everywhere just laying around AND drinking beer?! in Germany?! I can see how that show is going down hill :roll: I even saw a slightly over weight Hispanic under wear model lounging in the swap area. I don't think he even had his paper work!!!!!! disgusting! but still attractive :wink:

hey, look at that cool white bus in the background! it has shinny rims...and the Ghia looks like the suspension broke? 8)

Misunderstanding between us Scotty...
Nothing unacceptable about lying on the grass, neither about having a few beers. I drink beers, specially during vintage meets, and I love to sleep on the grass under the sun!!! 8)
But there's a huge difference between having a few beers and lying on the grass, and beeing drung and sleeping drunk on the grass surrounded with broken bottles.

Doug, many months after HO 09, Europe still suffered from that slightly over weight Hispanic under wear model laying on the grass ALL OVER Europe!! Europe has NEVER been the same since :lol:

...a BROKEN suspension on Kai's Ghia??? so it's NOT lowered?? OK, so he can go to BC 2011 with it?? as it's BROKEN and NOT lowered?? should be OK, unless german TÜV doesn't accept BROKEN suspensions?? :?:

Well it would appear you are talking about a particular scene from 3.5 years ago, and if my memory serves me right there weren't any broken bottles on the grass..... come to think of it there wasn't any rubbish of any kind on the grass
