Is that Rover, the clearancing dog? If it's taller than Rover then we are OK!
How are you running 4 lug rims on that lnkpin front end? |

P.S. unless you are securing a pillow, those flanges will not hold, unless the weld was already recessed. It looks like you took off way too much weld. Try cracking it with a hammer pretty hard, I bet they'll fall right off. No offense, we all have to learn. |

she clears, so im good haha! I have no idea about the 4 lug pattern, thats the way it was when i bought it. also i am going to make some rubber cushions to go between the flanges just havent got that far yet. as far as the welds go the pipe is pretty thick and so are the flanges so i should be good, but ill take a look at that tomorrow. Thanks for the help! |

I have a lot of respect for firefighters and I don't want to see you or anyone get hurt. May I ask what process you are using? If you need it that recessed, please consider some gusseting and you should be OK. |

i dont need it recessed, but it kinda happened :? , its only recessed on the sides and not so much anywhere else. if nothing else ill put another bead on it for good measure. |

Let me know the size of the area you would like this in. I will go from there to get a good figure for you on it. I will only cut this design once. Once it is cut if some one else wants one like it it will differ so that yours will be unique to you only. |

i havent been on in a while so here is a quick update....
i have completely disassembled the brakes and i have been cleaning them up removing the rust and powder coating them. Everything is looking good ill have some pictures up in a few days as things are moving slowly at this point. i have also powder coated the petals and they look great.
While i was disassembling the front brakes i found out that the PO used different style hubs  . what i found was one side is the needle bearing style and the other uses ball bearings. i dont think is it a major issue as of right now because all the bearing seals i ordered should work right? And i plan on going to disc brakes all around in the feature but i dont have the money to do that right now. What do you guys think?
tundawolf: i gave my flanges a few good blows with the ball pin hammer and nothing budged, also i took a closer look and the most the weld is recessed is about 2 or 3 mm max and thats on the sides. |

Roller bearings are stock, on ball joint front ends.
Ball bearings were stock on king pin front ends.
King pin's you could buy roller bearings that would fit. |

Let me know when you get her done. I live in Durham and would like to see it. What kind of problem are you having removing the trailing arms? The arms may have grooves worn in them from the bearings. If this is the case you may need to carry the beam to a machine shop and have them pressed out. |

in case your wondering... im not dead. More importantly i have made progress!
so since my last post in November... i have finally finished rebuilding the axles/suspension, brakes, and in the past two days i have installed the steering shaft and wheel. Now after reading some of the newer builds i feel like my buggy is "just another rail" but soon i hope to distinguish myself from the crowd. anyway here are some updated pictures.
that^^^ is the pedal mounting plate im currently powder coating, a good wet sanding and one final coat should have it looking like a mirror :D |

Nice looking rail! 8) But don't ever think of it as 'just another rail'. It's YOUR rail....and that makes all the difference!
I do have a word of advice for you. in regards to your pedal plate, which is picture below...
wuudywuudpecker wrote:

....the area to the right of where your brake master cyclinder bolts on, specifically where the front plate and right side plate come together at the corner. These are two seperate pieces of metal that come together to make the 'front right corner' of this assembly, and as shown in your picture...are only tack welded together. Weld that seam fully...from bottom to top! If you don't, it will eventually break. When it does, you will shove the front of that plate forward and to the left (along with the master cyclinder) and lose A LOT, if not all of your braking when it happens. Trust me....I speak from experience. It's worth having to re-powdercoat that whole piece after you weld that seam, rather than potentially risk your life due to a poor design of the assembly. I'm not trying to be a pain, just lookin' out for ya! |
