Wow I wouldn't have been worried about it hitting my legs. I've done alot of welding in a fabrication shop and when slag burns through your jeans and falls in your boot and gets under your foot, Damn, talk about dancing around. No pants and open boot tops is just asking for it. That being said yes she did pretty damn good for her first time. Keep it up Jesse
Do a search for engine identification. There is a lot of info about what year model and bore (if still unmolested) your case is. It goes by the letters and numners under your gen/alt stand. I believe it was your first pic. |

Here check this out. Come to think of it I had that same year on my last rail. Its a type 1 1600 dual port dual relief case or a type 2 with cross member holes. (Not sure what that is tho) all of the parts are the same for type 1 and 2 motors though. Just call it a type 1 1600 dual port and you'll befine.

You said you werre boring the case? How big are you going |

160 is pretty good. Is he gonna tap it for full flow and do the heads for that price? I've been thinking about doing the 1776 myself and had a really good import shop quote me 250 for the case heads and drill and tap for full flow. As far as beefy 1776 there are tons of options. I'd stick close to stock for reliability. Maybe an engle 110 cam and a good port and polish job on your heads and put in some stiffer springs. Should make a really noticeable difference and still be strong and reliable. |

yeah heads and full flow included. he used to build motors all the time and got out of it and now he only does a little her and there.. he is a littler older but his brother still runs a little shop called German Imports not too far from me. |

i dropped my motor off to be borred today, bolted on my lights and finshed my gauge box. the lights gave me trouble.. they were free from a friend and each had different thread pitch on the studs so i had to sort that out then the threads on one were a mess up. after about an hour and a broken dye wrench later i had cleaned up the threads and corrected them and then the light bolted up with no issue.
line lock, battery switch, and ignition switch are all ordered once i get all the switches ill drill the holes on the face plate.

Looking good. I'm like you, just got my first rail a month ago. Already painted mine and re-did the wiring. Next weekend it will be the floor pan. Seems like there are quite a few of us on here from nc. Might have to have a get together sometime |

absolutely, we need to do something. i have a friend that is currently buing a rail as well.. it was origionally his dads and it sat a while now he is redoing it. the only thing he has left is his wiring and its been that way for months... its all about motivation.. it would be sweet to form a club or something or just go riding. have you ever heard of the us 129 hwy? it runs through the mountains and crosses the Tennessee border. look up the dragon tail trail i wanna go ride it when i finish mine i think it would be a great thing to do as a group, and we could do some off road up there as well. |

Yeahi was kinda worried about the motor.some friends and I tried to start it friday and failed. It wasn't spinning over fast enough.come top find out the crank pulley was running on the oil pump. I found that sunday and grabbed my sure grinder.once the pulley cleared the pump it fired right up. Now comes carn adjustment. I'll try to up load more videos of the failed attempts at starting it later |

jbreddawg, i didnt notice that till you sad something. im pretty sure it was a leaf. it was pretty windy that day with the hurricane at the coast and all.
so i was able to terrorize the neighborhoods today. there are two one at each end of my street and for about an hour i rode through them with my straight piped rial. i timed it the other day and tunes the carb as best i could and it sounds like a drag car and is almost as loud. the first lap i made i got to the furthest point away from my house and the coil wire i have is about 2 feet long so i can mount the coil remotely. well it fell against the exhaust and grounded out so the motor cut off. i hopped out and fixed it. on the way back there were about 5 or 6 people in the front yard of a house and they clapped and gave me thumbs up so that was cool. eventually i got carried away and ran out of gas so once i had someone bring me the can from the house i was good to ride some more till the sun went behind the trees. all in all i had a blast and i cant wait to get it titled and street legal. |

so i had the cops called on me cause of the trip around the near by neighborhoods the other day. i came home to cops roaming near my house pretty heavily yesterday so the rail stayed in the garage yesterday. but today i bought a stinger!
it was also my grandma's birthday today so we went on a ride and she said that was the best birthday shes had... she was loving it i havent seen her enjoy something so much since she was diagnosed with lymphoma.. which she beat about 6 months ago and is now in remission! so that was awesome for me too. now i have another oil leak. check out the another day another leak thread i could use all the help i can get... |

Very nice rail. And i know how it feels to have the cops all over you. That's why your license plate is going to be your best friend. |
