Those are definately not the right ones. You want the one with 3.5 lbs pressure. You can get one from CB Performance or a number of Vw part suppliers. |

yeah, the cb pump is a Carter. One time I thought i'd be sly and just buy it direct instead of from CB, but I didn't. Because it would have cost 5$ more! |

another question for you guys, when you wire in the fuel pump do you use a relay to cut the pump of when the engines not running? if not and you just wire it into the ignition have you had any problems by leaving the ignition on by mistake? |

The preferred way (at least for me) would be to use a "control" relay so if engine dies for some reason (rollover) fuel pump cuts off so it does not continue to spew fuel out of carbs or whatever....
Several threads on relays or solid state modules on this site that discusses this very thing...

I have the pump now about a year. I hated all the wires that go to the coil to run the reverse light, my jacobs ignition, and the Carter pump.
I made a control box that has two pump relays that are in parallel, to each other, so if one fails the other will still work and each is rated at 50 amps.
The Carter pump comes off of those relays and now my coil only has two wire going to it.
The only thing I do not like about the carter is it runs all the time and at a psi a bit over what I like. It runs at about 4 psi. Otherwise it is a great pump and seeing carter make similar pumps for OEM auto manufactures, I expect it to last 200k. |
