Hi Martin.
I have just read your thread from start to finish and the comments everyone is making.
I have done bodywork/restoration for over 40 years and I find that the work that you are doing to your bus can only be described as simply amazing. From reading your thread I think you are a very talented, honest and sincere young gentleman with a good outlook on life.
The fabricating you have done with obviously the minimal of tools is beyond words. Don't worry about finishing the bus in a great hurry, you are young and your son will get to see your labour of love as he grows. After all he can't drive "HIS" bus for awhile. Keep up the fantastic work and good luck. Dream of the first ride with your family.

Thank you very much!
I have news, my wife's father told me I should take out the bus from workshop, because it was clogging there, has been 3 years and i understand him.
So I contracted a tow and carried the bus to my house. The problem is I don't have a garage where the bus can sleep. But at least I got a roof outside to protect from direct falling rain, but i can't protect from humidity and lateral rain with winds. The bus is primered but it doensn't protect from rust, so the main concern is save the money and take it to paintshop asap.
By the way I almost completed all metal work! I'm working straightening bumpers... super hard job, they looks so bad...
I will upload some pictures on next days.
Good luck everybody! |

Hello Sir, thank you very much! And I'm very sorry you had to read my english all along this thread! :P
Thank you for notice the effort I'm doing with it. It turned out a little hard sometimes, there is no parts for VW buses on the country. And also we live in small town where there isn't one single bus like this, even in the country is hard to find. There is a few anyways, but not much, and I didn't find yet any deluxe model on intenet. The last deluxe we know about was restored and sent to europe. |

Hello!!! Not finished yet, but still waiting to be! Current status is the same as you can see in the latest picture, but with the cover deteriorated... :P
Now I'm building (and almost finished) a small workshop on my house's backyard where I will be able to work on the bus comfortably, start painting and assembly.
I found a tranny case with reduction boxes for my model, so I bought it, and I'll probably discard the current one that correspond to previous models.
I should take some pics... but well... the most important is that coming soon I will resume the restoration process!!! :D |
