Lars has his company Syncro 16 Single Cab up for sale on ebay and I thought it might be interesting to ask how many of the 33 (from what I've read and heard etc) are still around and being used.
I know of about 8 or so... oh and the one which was on ebay in 2008 which was just the back section of the shell up to the front suspension points but came with paperwork!!
Here are the vans I know of..
And Lars pickup...

Well mine is a little rough but definitely in better shape than that one !
..and it is being used but for many purposes..right now it's lending its
drivetrain while I am working on a new ALH tdi and tranny oil plates for
my syncro westy..
..later this spring it will serve as a test bed for a friend's mtdi..
it should be back together by next fall, I'll get you a pic tomorrow |

A friend of mine in Norway, and a strong presence on the norwegian T3 scene, has a sika 16".
And another friend recently bought this. It looks low, but that crane and hydraulic system is quite heavy.

Cool,
It's good to see some others are out there being used.
I sold my Tristar Syncro RHD as I was too afraid to use it due to it being one of 19... I'm wondering now if I should've kept it and just used it anyway!

If you're talking about the red one, that's a 14".
Is there another? |

The Syncro Singlecab 16" option in Escorial green rates as my favorite all time syncro.

Hi Simon,
Yup that's the one at the top of my list also.
I have some photos of it before CJ bought it also and it's interesting that it wasn't ordered with a front difflock although CJ added it along with some Tristar interior parts.
I supplied him with a hinge bracket for those rare ally drop sides when I had mine machined up for the Tristar.
I've no idea how much it sold for but it won't have been cheap!
The biege one with flat dropsides was on Busman for a while for a serious about of money but knowing the history of it, and the work that went into getting it back into such great condition, I can understand the figure.
With those 2 as pretty much the top of the pile, you would be scared to use them...

Looking at Lars' 16 Sika, it's a Jan 1992 van.
The biege one I think is an August 1988 van so it looks like they may have produced them throughout the Syncro 16 production.
CJ's was given an H plate in the uk so has to be a late 1990 or 1991 van.

Cool truck in Brochure ,must be a hybrid or all electric . It has no filler neck and it has the cool and coveted " PUCH" badge on the right side as well .
Actually it was common for VW just to reverse photos for their RHD markets .
I'd love to see one with a Westfalia widebed on it .

Is it a 16? It's not usually possible to fit smaller wheels to a 16 due to the front uprights...
Oh I think the one in Mike Plompen's website is the orange one further up. I'll need to spend some more time watching videos of Syncros

Yup, true 16", the uprights are in the garage being restored and
experimenting with big brakes.
In the Tiguan rims thread you mention 330mm brakes. I wouldn't mind
more infon on those...pictures? |

Check out the Limey thread. It's all in there including bracket measurements.
