| just to highlight that the four door police cars were not made by karmann but by hebmuller, papler and austro-tatra, in case the above quote causes confusion. |

apparently this is a cabrio that was modified for use by the police in the Hague, Holland. this from a website - "This is an ex police car of the municipality of The Hague. The official name for this car was the Volkswagen Kuip coach. The convertibles were converted by a garage in The Hague and they received a rubber container in the back in which detainees, drunk people and bicycles were transported. The garage also mounted a characteristic plastic roof above the driver and co-driver. If the car could still be used after its life with the police, it was sold and rebuilt to a normal convertible. The nickname was "Half Cut White"
here's another view of one but I think it was given the modified rear cover in civilian use
this is another ex politie car

Posted this in the vert thread but would ask here as well. The more I think of it instead of a SK paint code like in a bus but possibly the Karmann body number? Jan 56?
This was on a 56 originally white vert

Some nice images in here https://www.life.com/history/volkswagen-photos-from-the-wolfsburg-factory-1951/ ...including a better view of this pic below, which were clearly taken within moments of one-another...
I didn't want to repost it - even with citation - for fear of copyright infringement.

That last one looks metallic, if Iris Blue it has dark blue/black wheels. The lighter color ones in front I have no idea |

I wonder why Gunter and his Karmann factory gang didn't just fire each car up and quickly drive 'em up the ramp and into tie down position? I would have loved to have been there and driven 'em up there for the gang to tie 'em down...
