Once you have them stretched to spec and are ready to install the new seals on each end, be very careful- the tube's ends are VERY sharp- I gouged my thumb years ago in a semi-circular cut... Wear gloves.

When i got to work today I used Glenn idea on using a 3/8 drive socket I belived I used a 13 or 14mm and it worked fine. Thanks for the help!

what do you mean "use the end of a 3/8 drive ratchet"? I don't get it and can't wrap my head around it. are you sticking the socket in the hole, sticking a plier into the hole of the socket and pulling?

ok. My tubes are all flared inwards, so nothing that fits in the end is big enough to clamp against. I'm gonna have to get creative.

just make sure when your done the pushrod dosent contact any part of thet inward tube and saw your pushrod's in half.

I found a wooden dowel that just fits works good because the sharp edge of the pushrod will grip it a little. Squeeze the end of the tube on the dowel, wiggle and pull.

Is it ok to bend the end of the push rod tube in order to expand it?

I grabbed the end of the tubes and pulled them with pliers but it bent the ends a bit and was no longer circular. It wasn't bend much though.

Has anyone seen a tool that expands these tubes more easily?

Stick a 14mm socket in the ends and hold in a vise while you gently pull/side-to-side. It is subtle. I measure/marked a piece of cardboard to use as a template:

Should both sides be expanded or just one?

What if the push rod tube fits in firmly before the head is even bolted on? I put the push rod tubes in and they fit snugly before I even put bolts on. Maybe this is an indication I have a deck height problem?

I don't think it matters if only one side expands, as long as it gets some "crush" it will seal.
