Camping in Wyoming. Note the cloth grocery bags full of rocks I use to hold my awning down...simple, easy, no stakes or lines.

"Emergency" stay at the Salton Sea thanks to the Cottonwood entrance being closed to Joshua Tree (thank you NPS for not putting signs out on I-10 alerting travelers to that fact  ):

Most... sleepless... night... ever.

First site at Joshua Tree:

Ended up spending more time there than we thought, so we stayed another night. Good thing, 'cause fellow Westy owner, Leah, spent the night too :D . Second site:

That was another sleepless night thanks to the wind.

Our campsite at, and after, the High Cascade 24 Hours near Bend, OR

We had 2 Syncro campers and a Sportsmobile Sprinter in a U shape. We awarded ourselves the "best camp" award.

The red Syncro belongs to Mastashake here on The Samba.

Nice camp out!

Any team race report from High Cascade 24 Hour?

Sorry this is such a dull photo, but it was the first time I have taken this Westy camping.

Doesn't look dull to me. We don't have fall colors quite like that here in California! The red Westy looks just right among those brilliant leaves.

Being a great fan of the misused apostrophe, this place is significant to me. They used to have a sign on U.S. 60 eastbound between Toano and W'mbg saying "Oop's, you missed it!" and that was the first such photo I took to document the '. There have been many more since.

Clever idea, that. I will file that away for future use. Thanks!

This also works well with filled collapsable water jugs. Not only to you have awning "tie downs," but you also have handy water in camp. Sorry, no photo but it works great. "A pint's a pound the world around!"

What happens when you drink most of your water, and then the wind picks up? :?

Salt Point State Park, California

This last weekend. Rare beautiful sunny December weekend. Practically no one on the Sonoma / Mendocino coast this time of year.

Expensive campgrounds though; $35 per night!

I love this thread...

When I first saw this picture (elsewhere without the location mentioned I think) I knew immediately it had to be nearby and thought "I want to camp there". Found it here and though great, now I know where it is! Followed by, dang, 4WD only. I need a Syncro now! :(
