I bought a swing axle trans from a local guy today..
He had 2 unidentified buggys, so I took some pics, & found out what they were...

Apache Roadster... he's keeping this one.

And, an Apache Sand Shark... he is selling this one for $400 Obo.

***The dash, & windshield frame are included, not pictured.
The guy is not a member here so if anyone is interested in the Sand Shark PM me.
I have his contact info, he's located in Ashtabula Ohio.***

This makes me wonder if the Sand Shark had a roof option?

is his a dune runner t-bird buggy? or something else?

Muttrk Sat Jul 28, 2012 10:57 pm

I believe that is a bandit buggy. I just picked up the same thing. It was sold by Montgomery ward 69 and 70 model years according to dune buggy archives.

Mine:

Any help would be appreciated.

The guy I bought it off of said he had to buy the whole barn full of "junk" to get what he wanted for his motorcycle. Two Hundred to get started on a buggy sounded like a deal to me.

I bought this "manx" clone a few months ago. Anyone seen it before or know who might have made the body?

campervan12000 Tue Sep 25, 2012 4:45 pm

I've had this slow moving project 2 years and cannot identify the body. Its not an Allison and it isn't a Tarantula. I believe however it may be a local to the Indiana, Illinois area, any ideas out there? Nothing in the archives....

any thoughts on my green buggy above?

Bob Elgin Thu Sep 27, 2012 9:09 am

It looks like a manx clone. Check dunebuggyarchives to make sure. Love the green and black paint job

Hey guys i'm new here but i've been lurking on and off for over a year now but i finally found a buggy body close by for a decent price! I was gonna see if any of you had seen one like it? The arrow shape in the hood has been the key thing i've been looking at to try and ID it. The side pods are leaning up against it. Thanks for any help!

Prolly gonna go pick it up this weekend!

smelly$cat Thu Sep 27, 2012 11:28 am

Thanks Bob.. I'm very new here. Can you point me to the dunebuggyarchives? Is a "manx clone" a general term to refer to one of many companies that copied the design? Thanks for your help!

Bob Elgin Thu Sep 27, 2012 2:28 pm

Its what most call manx clone because of they look just like one without where the emblem goes,Its at the front where your bumper will be . look at meyers manx and u will see what im talking about. v
there is nothing wrong with what you have. wish i could find one like that....

The link is http://www.dunebuggyarchives.com/decision-tree/leafs/BuggyId/
you will find out how much it looks like a lot of ones
I have a Spatz and its not a manx in catergory but its still a tub buggy which all of us have.

Check out my build, never let them setup for a long time like i did

Bob Elgin Thu Sep 27, 2012 2:51 pm

Hey humdinger your buggy is also at dunebuggyarchives.com you can identify there, but the guys around here can help a lot. A lot of knowledge here.

smelly$cat Thu Sep 27, 2012 4:48 pm

Thanks for the direction! I actually read your build thread a couple days ago. Pretty nice work!

Humdinger Fri Sep 28, 2012 9:01 am

I've searched on there before using the classic body style and the dash molded to the hood search options but I still came up with nothing! If you have seen it on there please let me know how or what you searched for. Thanks!

Bob Elgin Fri Sep 28, 2012 11:13 am

dont use the option to the different type of fenders, nose, etc.... here is the link. They are in alphabetical order. It says see complete model list, click that or the link i have here

Look at the Safari Buggy, looks like what you have

VolkswagenGerry Mon Nov 05, 2012 12:37 am

here is mine when I first got it...
PO modified and squared off original hood, made to open and close and head lights in front.. no indication of make.. just a hack lol..
It was painted "thunder bug" on the sides with a chrome lightning bolt.
I cant tell if it was actually a thunder buggy or that was just a theme..
The closest I can find on archives iss the glitter bug mfg..
Under the white paint revealed a lime green metal flake...
Hmmm ?? ANY TAKERS?
