Just picked up a 63 notch around the Sacramento area planning on fixing it up and making it my daily driver. Here are a few pictures.

I have a current ideal on what I want it to look like from the T3D Selecta but not sure how to copy the photo...
I will keep this post updated for the most part with any updates. Will probably also be parting out some of the stock items that I won't be using.

PS. My dad and I built this fastback and sold it this April.

Interesting spoiler on your fasty, how did you attach it?

Don't sell anything. If you ever try to revert to stock, You'll have a hard time replacing the stuff. Nice early car BTW!!!

We attached it through the bottom, just using a few bolts to hold it down and using rubber seals to keep it from leaking. It was off a Ford Escort.

Not really planning to keep it original; body will stay intact don't plan on doing any crazy body mods like last time. We do however plan on putting a 1.8t in it. Could do a Subaru, but I would much rather see all VW parts.

Also, just pulled out all the original trunk pad/liner. Will have an ad for that and the engine lid and a running engine.

Need to find short axles for the rear and I want wide 5 disc brakes up front, but not quite sure on whats needed for that.

Purists amuse me.

there is no reason to hack up a perfectly good notch to stuff a low powered water pumper in it. If you have to have a radiator then do it right, turboed K20!

Nick- if you want to do a motor swap so bad then maybe a type 4 motor?

thats a beautiful notch, looks like he went above and beyond to do a proper cooling setup. A BIG shame that he didn't use a better engine. I'm at that power level with my air cooled t4 motor.

WasserBoxers are quiet, torquey little bastards. Im inclined to think they make a notchback drive real nice and smooth. No violence or need for guns and big wang contests the like you get from other motor conversions.

Well nothing is going to be sold and no body work is going to be done until we are positive that the decklid will close with the 1.8t from 2000 passat (I believe) will fit into the back nice and snuggly. I plan on keeping it the 1.8t since I can get one fairly cheap and they have enough power and reliability. Also, hopefully this won't be a hack, we will do it correctly. Keeping it original VW parts ;) Just off of different cars...

It's pretty tough to install a radiator without hacking holes into the car. I'm sticking with my guns, the ends don't justify the means when putting in a 100bhp water pumper into such a solid early notch. do me a favor and research a type 4 swap, those motors can be had for cheap and go right in. http://www.tunacan.net/t4/tech/type3.shtml

Can't you just Congratulate Him on his new WasserBoxer notch and quit talking about your Superior T4 notch?

supaninja Tue Jul 12, 2011 1:03 pm

Mike he hasn't converted anything yet. I'm just trying to help nick from doing something he might regret later on down the road. If I'm coming off as being a dickhead so be it. The ends got to justify the means when you start deviating from stock IMHO.

Sorry Nick, I was thinking this was the notch with the 4 barrel sticking out of the trunk!
