Look, there is no going back now. The truck was hit at some point, and that part of its history translated into this situation. You're just going to have to live with the truck being a bit out of line, there. You have to make peace with it somehow.

John, I'm going to see it this weekend.I'm going to measure some stuff. Not sure it can be fixed easily but maybe find out what is wrong.

Regardless, once you drive it you are going to love it. We all have imperfections. So do our old vehicles. Hell, the paint on my 4-door double cab is peeling off in sheets, but I still love driving it. And I don't worry about scratching the paint.

Thank you John.

Floor installed. Light gray epoxy primer is hard to find in the area so dark gray epoxy primer it is.

1) did you ever solve the alignment issue?

2) paint the fresh air grill body color. you may as well paint the fake V on the nose if you leave it roof color

IMO trucks shouldn't be two-tone. But you picked two good colours and I think it's going to look great. I like how the two colours are close together in tone and hue, and the darker colour is a particularly good one.

For sure don't go with grille the contrasting colour, that looks terrible and cheap even when the colours themselves are good.

Thank you Gary

Don...No. I have two grills and painted each of them body/roof color. The roof color ended up in the pic. I have the non chrome VW for the nose I think I'll also paint the body color. I have two NOS commercial mirrors that are factory white. I would also like to paint them the body color. The bed is also getting painted the roof color.

Scott thanks for the thoughts on the colors. I would normally agree that commercial vehicles should be one color but I'm not normal.

So I went and saw the bitch today. The recent photos were sent to me so I got up close and personal today. I have two grills and I had them both painted the opposing colors. The VW badge was already painted dark green, I had wanted it the lighter color but this is easily changed. So here is with the light green grill.

For those enquiring minds that want to know we have Mango and Iceland green.

I really like the badge being in the darker green. Was Iceland Green a VW color?

This truck looks great!

When do you start reassembly?

babysnakes Sun Jul 31, 2022 3:41 pm

John they are both VW, Iceland green is 1954 type 1. The bumpers will be Iceland green so I want the badge to be Mango.

Well I am need one last piece of body metal. The fresh air delete plate for the passenger side is rusted to shit. I should have caught this long ago. Does any one have one laying around they would like to sell? Here is a pic of the driver side.
