use 5.5 rods

and ud have about 0.060" deck.. u can turn the barrels on a lathe
to get ur desired deck.. or turn the barrels enough that it would let u use a 0.040" copper headgasket

call it a day..

74x90.5 works too..

ofcourse like most would say. it would make sense to run
78.4-82 strokes its easier..

example

78.4 stroke and using 5.5 rods on B pin height pistons,
ud need maybe 0.050" to 0.060" shims to get to ideal deckheight
so getting a set of copperhead gaskets of that thickness.. would let u have ur deck nice..

ofcourse mocking it up will have the final say on where ur stuff fals.. as far as deckheights go

ugghhhhhh!.....not to your answer, just to the fact that every answer gives me more questions......wanted to use 5.4 rods and nothing longer......and now tat I think about it, I might as well get all the cc's I can ...I think I will just go ahead and order an 82 crank and 94 b pistons and cylinders...........should make for the easiest build since the b pistons are made fo an 82 crank, anyway........found out today that I've got a good connection for parts at wholesale here in town and the budgeted money for the build will be available next week.........I'll get the parts in and take them to my local auto machine shop for balancing.....pics coming soon!

I've got a 2176 (78.4 x 94) that runs 5.4 rods, with the case decked I only required 40 thou shims to get the deck height and compression i was after, overall the engine is 2mm wider than a stock 1600. Easy to get together, and not much in the way of clearancing required.

59cc chambers with .040 deck height?
the 0.040 deck height is what I'm after, which will give me 9.2:1 compression with 59cc chambers which is what I want with the Engle 120 cam....CB's Los Panchito heads have this volume and won't kill my budget........

I have my parts list and will be ordering next week....here we go!

Yep, I'm running a scat C45 cam, 1.25 rockers on 044 CNC round port 42 x 37.5 valves. Just got it running a couple of weeks ago, now its time for the EFI conversion 8)

id suggest buy one thing..

either the pistons

or crank frist

so u would be stuck with fewer options HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

actually, I did just that early this morning........78.4 crank...94mm B P@C's....now I have to build it..........

fivelug, What size piston are you using to get 9.2:1 with .040 deck and 59 cc heads? I built a 1915 69X94 with .040 deck. Added a .010 barrel shim for insurance since me 18 year old son was going to be the driver. I bought the CB Los Panchito heads (which I like) and had to have them flycut to 52 cc's in order to have 9.0:1.

94mm P&C's x 78mm crank with 59cc chambers and a deck height of 0.040 gets me to a CR of 9.2:1

CB panchitos do NOT have 59 cc chambers. Another BS advert by CB.
They are 55/56 cc roughly after cutting out the bullshit step.
Yes they come with a step in them, which means you either run zero deck at the cylinder top and use the step in the chamber, or you set your deck in the cylinder and have the step removed. The ACTUAL chamber itself is only 55/56 cc.
Ive had 2 sets now, and while they open the head for the proper size cylinder they do not adjust the step to the proper piston size. (ie the piston will hit the step if you run zero deck, cause the step needs cut to the piston size if you plan on using it for your deck)
Terrible IMO. Either do the machine work right or dont do it at all.
Both sets i had the step taken out by my machinist and set the deck in the cylinder.

I also had the step removed but still had them cc'd to 52.

Then I will be going with DRD heads.
