can you put 40mm intake and 35.5 exhaust in stock dp heads and have a decent head if you open ports up some? thanks

do the seats have to be replaced? what is a good valve to use? new to this vw stuff or should i say havent played with them in 20 years and never did any performance stuff back in the day.

It is cheaper to buy new heads with 40x35.5 valves installed then rebuilding old heads with larger valves.

You can fit a 37mm valve on the stock intake seat, 37x32 is biggest you should go on stock seats.

PEP supplies good seats and valves, Bugpack re-packages them and sells them also

I had 40mm/35.5mm in my stock heads. I removed them and added 42mm/37.5mm today. Yes, you have to change the seats each time you change valve size. This head shop charged me $100 to do the work while I watched, which included adding neew valve guides. I supplied the parts. I was amazed at how cheap it was. He has all the good equipment to do the job right.

The by golly you should have no trouble at all! go for it. Maybe you should get an account setup with PEP, they probably have some good guides for harley too!
