Quote: E's had a single side draft engine- "E" for "Economy"- N running gear with the "S" trim package. Also, your NOS hub caps are incorrect: '64 and on had "outies", not "innies".

All together now: "Tram is an ass."

But seriously- beautiful!

Good Eye on the E! just faking the Funk! but rare none the less! as far as the hubcaps, they are correct as can be!

Wondered about the "E"- figured you'd be up on what was what if it really was one.

But sorry- mid '64 on hubcaps have the "VW" pressed OUT, not IN.

You interested in selling the repops when your NOS ones go on?

ALLWAGONS Sat Oct 15, 2011 8:57 pm

You don't mind they are crooked? I'll let you know. That's if I don't keep them as spares. But you are first if they go for sale.

you still have to drill NEW holes

NOS and repro can't MIX or replace

DONT drill front yet
we got to have a meeting

Tram Sat Oct 15, 2011 9:13 pm

Martin, been thinking about putting them on my '63- but, since I plan on driving it, I can't see sticking real ones out there to get banged up by nimrods behind the wheel or with shopping carts, given the cost of NOS ones.

You are 100% right compadre, but I bought these as complete units way back in 2008, and for the low price I paid for them, I can live with a tube being an inch or two in either direction.

Thanks Dong! Greetings to The Philippines!

The color, I was calling it Ruby Red, but I have been told it is off by two shades! LOL!

BEAUTIFUL effort and finished product! I wish my red squareback looked that nice!

Very nice touch with the French headlamps, what make are they? Are they yellow Euro bulbs in stock housings, or different reflectors as well?

You said the car doesn't need any more accessories but allow me to suggest a subtle one: a chrome tailpipe would set it off just right, the plain grey muffler tip doesn't match the rest.

Thanks! They are Marchal yellow 6V bulbs on stock Euro headlights. I'be been thinking about installing the chrome exhaust piece.
