Anyone else feel like BAT vanagons consistently go for less than they should? This most recent camper auction has me reevaluating past decisions.

Seems about right to me. And, I guess 'lately' may be a plateau after the covid frenzy.

They consistently go for way below NADA book value.
I would not sell one on that website

I think it depends a lot on the seller.

Both seller and buyer were surprised at $25K on that one, but on auctions with higher seller participation it shows.

Do the work selling before and during.

Here's another listing that went up today:

I'm Steve P, glad to meet you!

This one suffered from bad bedliner choices price deductions.

Questionable wheel color, perhaps, but those are factory alloys so pretty suitable for a Vanagon.

Nice van. It's good to see they're keeping up with tradition and offering a Vanagon with non-op A/C (although the explanation in the comments is helpful).

I've wanted this or one like it since I first saw one many, many years ago but parking space is the limiting factor. One day, though.... one day....

1984 Westfalia - watercooled 1.9L auto - 55K miles - East Coast = rusty bits:

Typically automotive vendors wash their vehicles prior to posting them for sale, however this particular vendor is apparently taking a different approach.

1987 Syncro Vanagon (non-Westy) - Subaru swap + a ton of really well executed upgrades:

Perhaps this build was documented on the Samba??

Perhaps this build was documented on the Samba?? I never understand why someone would go to all the trouble of building out a vehicle just to sell it a year or two later .
Guess it could be a case of spending big bucks for that dream machine and then having buyers remorse after looking at the empty bank account.
Problem being that you can never recoup what you spent in labor.
Hopefully it's not health related.

Reserve not met at $32,000.

Previously 'sold' at $50,000 but the 'winner' backed out of the sale and is banned from BAT.

$32,000 is not a lot of money for a heck of a lot of van.

And sold for $51K - good $$ for a well executed build.
