So after leaving work last night I was stopped at a red light and looked up in the rearview and thought, is he gonna stop? Next thing I knew was the loudest bang I've ever heard in my life and then people banging on my window to see if I was alright. The person that hit me was in a 97' ford Ranger doing a solid 50mph and never touched the brakes. No skid marks at all! I don't know why I did but I turned the wheel right as fast as I could right before. The EMT's said that is what the difference was between a cut up hand and them cutting me out.

Time to find a new ride.

Sorry to hear about your panel. I don't think I want to see the pics. Did you have more than basic coverage on your insurance? Don't feel bad about posting pics, I could never figure it out either.

Sorry to hear about your wreck. Hope you are OK. A rear-ender in a vehicle with no headrests and low seat backs is no joke. I bet you are hurting in places you never thought you had. But I also bet you are glad you were in a Panel instead of a Kia.

Bummer!

Fuck man!

Although not in my bus, (I was luckily in my County work vehicle, and on the clock... my bills are def. covered with GOOD ins... I hope to God this jackass was covered too!), I was broadsided by a motorcycle a week ago last Thursday... you need to see a Dr. ASAP. Trust me man, you'll be very sorry if you don't.

I tried to fix your links for you man, but the pics are too large in ImageShack... but they will open in another window if you click them, now get yourself as many professional opinions as is possible.

Thanks a bunch for getting the images right! Yes, that is the battery wedged in between the tire and torsion housing.

That really hurts me to look at these pics. Wow! I am glad you are ok. Please go to the doctor. Play it smart-safe. Time for another bus. Life goes on. Really sorry to hear and see this.

SamSmith Sat Nov 19, 2011 10:46 am

You said he never even touched the brakes? Sounds premeditated.

Honestly though do you think he did it intentionally?

slow36hp Sat Nov 19, 2011 10:48 am

yup that one is a goner glad to hear people arent saying the same for you. definately go get checked out if you havent already.

Phil Dowling Sat Nov 19, 2011 10:55 am

Honestly though do you think he did it intentionally? You can't be serious... :?

To the OP: sorry this happened to you, I've been through it. Your pics bring back bad memories.

^^^ agreed with Dave.

I believe too many drivers these days are trained to look for two bright, 4-foot-high clear prizms atop a bank of Red LEDs- often connected by a row of 80 smaller LEDs on modern cars. I'm sure it was purely unintentional- and since a lot of guys are cars guys- he likely hates what he did to a vintage vehicle.

Glad you're at 95%- the glancing blow saved you indeed. Sorry about your panel.

SamSmith Sat Nov 19, 2011 11:35 am

No, sorry, this is very serious. You're very lucky you're safe now, and I'm terribly sorry about the accident. I was a little out of line. Car wrecks affect so many peoples lives in tremendous ways.
I have heard of people intentionally getting into wrecks for insurance fraud though, so an intentional wreck is a true possibility, and it does happen often. But anyways sorry about the bus man

///Mink Sat Nov 19, 2011 11:35 am

Holy crap, glad you're (relatively) OK. That could have been a whole lot worse for you. Sorry about your Bus, that sucks, but in the grand scheme of things, I think I'd be mostly be thankful to be alive.

LAGrunthaner Sat Nov 19, 2011 12:06 pm

OMG Desijae, I am very sad to see this  and I am glad you are OK but I agree go to a doctor ASAP, just get checked out, a slam like that can cause body damage later with slow swelling so head it off at the pass.

I hope your insurance will get you something back and possibly salvage some parts from your bus.

Your hit hit looks similar to Manny's Coram Bus Works panel, I think it is time for bus owners to install the flashing brake light that they sell for motorcycles.

Hang in there.

kanniff Sat Nov 19, 2011 12:10 pm

That sucks!
I hope you are okay!
Did you have full coverage on your insurance?

Hopefully you get a fair price- and a new ride.

There are quite a few salvageable parts obviously, make sure you take the option to "keep" the car if you can.

Mikee Sat Nov 19, 2011 12:15 pm

OUCH!!!!

pyrOman Sat Nov 19, 2011 12:22 pm

Okay, here it goes... that shit'll buff out! :P

There, I said it! But sorry 'bout that! Glad you are okay 'cause it could have been much worse, really!

mtb7001 Sat Nov 19, 2011 2:26 pm

That bus gave it's life for you, save a piece for a wallhanger.
Glad you made it, keep on top of the doc thing.
I looked in the mirror one day and saw this car coming... just like you... and I thought hmm, I'll pull into the other lane, and as the gofast idiot locked his brakes and skidded through the spot I WAS sitting in he came inches from hammering another car. They looked over at me... I'm pretty sure I conveyed "you are a f'ing idiot" look.
You had a 8 foot long crush panel, you would have been injured in a new car.

Culito Sat Nov 19, 2011 2:39 pm

That sucks, man. Glad to hear you're ok.
