I think it was around the Morrvair build when they got painted it there.

And he was in his teens when the Vanagons were still sold new at dealerships (He mentioned recently that he is over 50)

Nice detective work! Makes sense. Matt is also a rear engine Corvair guy so it stands to reason that he is familiar with VWs too.

Matt's a longtime Corvair guy, so I suspect the AC connection has kept VWs on his radar over the years. That definitely looked like an intentional vlogging hook-up for the eyeballz

Good grief, I wonder how much that thing weighs with all those extras?

Major work on that old horse.
He shows a very good reason to pull the cabinets and floor on an old Westy!
It doesn't really take that much effort to remove the Westy interior and pull the floor to check for rot.

Reminded me of a joke when studying music in college..

Teacher: How many hours a day do you practise?

Student: If you want that in hours it would be easier by the month..

0 to 60 in minutes is no bueno

Love how quiet it is! Would have liked to see it in action on some rougher off-road terrain :)
(Although I guess they wouldn't want to trash on a fresh $$$ build before giving it back to the customer  )

Real curious how long the stock transmission will last with the extra torque the electric motor puts out?

This guy has three videos so far, and they are incredibly satisfying and chill to watch.

We've got several builds/rescues up on the Barefoot Forge Youtube channel since the last time I've posted to this thread!
Join our merry crew in the "Heidi" series!

We travel to upstate NY to grab a 1987 syncro Westy that's been parked since 2001 (The result of 9/11), and over the course of 5 trips..... rebuild it in a field and drive it 600 miles home!
At the time of posting this we're about ready to release chapter 4, it's got nearly 2000 mostly trouble free miles on it and is acting as a daily driver while I finish up the Doka series this winter. LOTS more content coming!

He says his Dad had a VW bus with a Corvair drivetrain

I did a video series that a lot of people liked, called "What's on My Van?". Basically I talk about all of the upgrades I've done in the 16 years I've owned my 85 Wolfsburg Westy Weekender.

Here is the first episode:

If you like the series or just want to support what I am doing, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE in YouTube. :-) It really does help me a great deal. Thank you so very much. :-)
