I've acquired a pair that I'm prepping for an engine rebuild and the rocker action feels stiffer than usual. I guess it's hard to quantify stiffness (don't say that's what she said). I cleaned these up, reassembled and oiled and they still feel kind of tight to me. I'm comparing to a scrapped set i have as well as the ones that are in my 71 S beetle. I notice the scrap set's blocks are 2mm narrower and have 2 more washer "sandwiches" to take up space.
Just thinking that for the work these things do, I don't want to stress pushrods etc any more than necessary. Thoughts on reducing tightness or leave it to maybe loosen up over time?
